I love me some boats ;D ;. I usually run my jet at least 1 night a week, more if others are around. Its a modded nqd hull and is setup for running rapids and rough water as opposed to top speed. for the money its the best rc I own. You can run them in almost no water, jump them, run into each other, it doesn't matter they come back for more. A couple weeks back me and another buddy went out and jumped them close to 30 feet in the air  and they took it no problems.

Here is a clip of my 29" with way to much power. I run it at about 1/4 throttle because the poor hull design works better as an airplane than a boat lol

I thought those boats are molded hulls so what kind of mods can you make?

I tried to Google your NQD but came up with forums only, nowhere to actually buy one. Where can I get one? What are the specs?

BTW - I've built several (real) mini jet boats like the one pitured above. I'll post some pics later (I'm working 14-hour days this week) :-[

I've actually been toying with the idea of building a hull and power system around this...

A lot! The boat is undrivable as it comes out of the box. No proportional controls for anything and slower than a walking pace. First thing you have to do is cut the top section of the hull off to gain access to the insides. Then you have to gut them completely. Then find what power system you want to run and install your goodies. While I have the jets out I like to do a few little mods to them also to improve flow. You need to drill some cooling holes in the hull and re glue the factory seam at the hull lines. Then just seal it all up till she is leak free. The first ones can be a little tricky but ive done so many now I know all the little tricks to make it easier. It takes me a hour or so now to do a full conversion.

I have gotten most or mine from Raidentech but they seem to be out of stock. I have ordered from here also it just takes a little longer and costs more.

In the end though you can have a fully built one with all new electronics for just a hair over $100 with little to no maintenance. At most I might replace a motor every couple years and buy new batterys

What are you using for a motor, ESC and drive?  Reading some threads on other forums people seem to use a "Gaupner" whatever that is.

The Graupner is the original maker of the jet and boat. The nqd is Chinese clone of the nqd. The jet is a little lower quality but can be modded to be just as good as the Graupner ones. The Graupner jet will accept a 540 motor also although it is not needed with these little boats.
