Hey that's Jason Kodyz in the first picture in the stand! HAHAHA! That is from a long time ago when he had more hair.
April 2007. 5 long years ago. That's why it's taken me awhile to remember how different it really was.
now that looks like a fun track to run. and if the track was built on the GO BIG OR GO HOME to where it was fun and you could use the speed of you truck or buggie then hell yes i would come race and play.Boy this sure has taken one hell of a trun now. what made people want to listen to other thought.
I've always been listening to other people's thoughts, but what specifically changed my opinion is going through old photographs. I took HUNDREDS of pictures (like those) from the racing season that year. Going back through them made me remember how much fun that track really was. It's been such a long time that I kinda forgot. Most of my memories about that racing season were bad, specifically the structure. I hated that races always got off to a late start (often waited hours to get started) and the slow pace of watering/maintenance between races. Otherwise, the track itself was a blast.
I have to say, I have been to Rattlesnake raceway 4 times this year and every time it has been a blast. I know there is a lot of experience on this forum but it wouldn't hurt for some of the folks that are in a position to build/run a track to take a trip down there and check it out. They just finished a new layout a couple weeks back and we were able to run 2wd SC and 1/8 elec. buggy NO PROBLEM. In the 4 trips that I have made we have seen nothing less than 30 racers out there and over 50 on one trip. In fact, they have a feature jump on the front side of the track that has a 20-25ft. gap for the buggies/truggies. The short course guys were rolling it and having a blast around the rest of the track. I got a news flash for everyone........People are already racing fellas. Dave's rc, Santiam Hobbies, Rattlesnake, Chico, etc. The list goes on. If RVRC is taking this hobby seriously, then let's get it going. I didn't spend $1,000+ building a buggy to watch it sit on the shelf and I know that others feel the same. I would support the WC track if it comes together, until then I'll continue to drive the 3 hours to race.
Hopefully all you Oregon guys can get a track goin up there! The yreka group use to come up alot and race at rpm..... its fun to race different tracks then the same old one. That being said, my indoor mini track will be completed today! And as soon as i get my hands on a tractor, i will be building a 60x120 foot 1/10 - 1/8 track in my backyard. Would be kool to get some outta town people to come down and race with us.
Here is an interesting track design. Think they drew it up while playing minitature golf? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcqm3ZgMX68&feature=related greg
That loop looks ridiculous, but otherwise that's a really interesting design. I like the quarter-pipe-style corner.
That would be a small RC Supercross track, It's been coming down the line for a while now with our cars being so much more capable. Look at the EU races and you will see that a much larger more technical track is coming quick.
I literally laughed out loud when I saw the first car take the loop. Very creative obstacle! Not sure if I would wanna do it, but kudos for the idea. Besides that the track wasn't bad. I did watch a vid of the 2011 ROAR worlds that the track looked like a TON of fun. Maybe I'll post it when I get home tonight.
Heres a good shot of the track in Jacksonville and to give you guys a scale point, the drivers stand is 60' long, It was a blast as Chad always produces some of the best designs for the space he has. Hell he even sodded and put in an automatic sprinkler system for the track, it stayed groomed all weekend long.
