That was awesome. I liked the tracer fire in the night part. I thought it was illegal to own fully automatic weapons, much less anti-aricraft type weapons.
Prior to the 1986 ban, anyone could walk into a gun shop and purchase a fully-automatic weapon. All automatics sold before the ban are still legal firearms and are registered as such. They can be bought and sold as freely as any other gun. But, a standard-issue 1985 M-16 will set you back an easy $30k!
Thanks for the info. If a 1985 M-16 costs $30k imaging how much one of those anti-aircraft guns would cost!
"bought and sold freely" Well... Not exactly! You have to undergo a more exhaustive background check, pay BATF for an expensive tax stamp, and then accept some stringent conditions of ownership. Then you can fork out your 30K and wait six months to a year for your application to (hopefully) process. All that said, I'm grateful to live in a country where this is even possible. The Second Amendment is the cornerstone of all freedom. When it goes, so will everything else. You just have to read world history to know that for certain. ...Tiger
You're absolutely right John. There are several additional hoops to jump through. Currently the tax stamp is $465, and it's over 18 months to wait for your application to hopefully go through because of all the recent mass shootings nationwide (thanks assholes). You even need to be fingerprinted and identity verified and approved by your local LEO. But, the principle is the same. If you can legally own any other type of firearm then you can own a fully-automatic weapon of your choice (pre-1986 manufacture). And hey, if you can afford the $30k, not to mention THOUSANDS of rounds every time you pull it out to play, then the tax stamp really is just a formality
I have fired a full auto weapon before. It was cool for about 10 minutes. Then going to get ice cream with a cute girl became far more interesting.
