Glad ya are liking and I'm still jealous [IMG]

Not being desperate to say anything negative but we have a little TIP for y'all, even for our serchers'n lurkers. Be careful of the Programming Wheel as I had broked and fixed the wheel on my DX6i. And judging by the amount of people in the forums it has happened to it's reasonably common and normally you would have to send it in to Horizon for any issue or busted whats-it. Now unless Spektrum have beefed up the wheel since their DX6i (which I very much doubt they have) be gentle with em ... That said my Dx6i is VERY OLD and WELL USED which maybe the deciding factor as to WHO gets teh broked wheel issue ...

EDIT: As for the 30 model match limit I belive you can download that 30 to the memory card and upload a different 30 ;)

Thanks for the heads-up w00d! Haven't had that problem with my DX6i so I am optimistic that My DX8 will hold up :) Nevertheless, I wil take care with it!

You've been programming it so much you've run the battery to 5 volts already!  ;)

    What a nice radio, congratulations!

GC - I have not been following this, but I just read most of this page.  Can't help but ask why, if you had a 10CAP, you didn't just put the Spektrum module in it?  That's what I use and it works great.  I never had a DX8, but I had a DX7 and I hated it compared to the Futaba.

Got the DX8 because I am going to be getting serveral BNF models this coming year and they are all Spektrum. Didn't go with a Spektrum module in my T10 because I want to install the FrSky LRS module for my UAV/FPV projects. Plus, I wanted to have one of each (Futaba/Spektrum) to keep my options open for future projects ;) Not to mention the $5.00 OrangeRx DSM2 receivers!!!

Although you haven't been specific about what you didn't like about the DX7 I can cite a number of people that "hated" the way DATA input was implemented on the DX7. At the same time I can cite instances and say personally teh DX6i thus DX8 does not suffer the same issue. The DX8 was Spektrum's attempt to answer the deficiencies of the DX7, and without sounding like a "Spektrum FanBoy" teh DX8 is truly a step ahead for Spektrum

I to am in love with the BNF models, especially the ultra micros.  I have at least ten of those, plus larger BNF's, plus I don't know how many scratch built models with Vapor and $5 HK/Orange receivers.  This is why I have the DM8 Spektrum module for the 10CAP.  I can only fly one at a time so I just plug the Spektrum module into the Futaba and go.  I also have Futaba modules for synthesized 72MHz and FASST.  I have a second 10CAP that I leave a FASST module in all the time.  That's the TX I use for serious helicopters.  I find the Futaba menu system to be very intuative and the radio feature rich.  The DX7 seemed just the opposite to me.  Nothing makes a lot of sense.  I'm sure the DX8 has got to be a lot better.  The other really nice thing about flying Spektrum on Futaba is that I don't have to learn another radio.  I think I'm getting to old to learn new tricks.  :)

I know the GYRO Setup on the DX6i and DX7 is confusing for some. Much better or easier with Futaba {IMO} ... One of the reasons for this is because Spektrum does NOT reflect the "TRUE" Gain value where as w/ Futaba Tx's it does.

Meh, either or they get the JOB done. But it's TRUE of Spektrum, allot of people don't like the MENU system plan and simple!

Well OK, the main reason for the Spektrum is I already have 30+ OrangeRx receivers. I don't have any module for my T10, which is why I don't use it. I'm going to use it for FPV exclusively which is why I am going with the LRS system. Just need to finish all my current projects so I have some money for the FPV!

GC - Every time you post I keep getting the feeling that you don't realize that the DM8 module will talk to your 30+ Orange (Spektrum type) receivers.  It works just fine.  That's what it's for!  Don't mean to beat on this, but your postings make it sound like you don't realize it works.  It's like the best of both worlds.  Full Spektrum compatibility and the joy of Futaba hardware.

wOOd - You're right about the gyro setting.  There is not one guy in ten that actually understands what he'd doing when he makes that adjustment.  To make matters worse, most of the postings I've seen are misleading or just plain wrong.  I should make a chart of some sort that explains that in a way that makes it obvious.

P.S.  For anyone interested... Tom Kanger just told me about a guy here in GP that has a "new" DM8 module for sale.  I bought both of mine at Chief in Merlin for $40ea.  They normally come with a receiver, but Chief splits them.

Good thread ... ON some of "THOSE" other forums given the subject we'd be into good old brawl, flame war {LOL} by now [IMG]

... Learning about the DM8 Module was a plus as this is NEW info for me. Up until this thread I thought I would be stuck with Spektrum until death do us part. Now if I choose I can add Futaba to my list of possibles
