Hey I was in the mood for learning, learning more of my PaintShop Pro X4. Then I thought maybe
a RED Canopy for the old TRex 450

Not that there's anything wrong with the yellow, I'm just a little bored w/ the old yellow and it's looking
old and a little less for wear. With a number of little cracks here and there the Canopy could benefit
from a little of my time and effort

[IMG]  vs  [IMG] The original, the real colour ...

    TIP:
I thought a "Photo Editor" would be a great TOOL for checking the "What-If's", what if my Canopy was RED
    ... Works for me ...

haha I did a green one but given I'm not fond of green except when in the trees and grass it's not my colour, green on a Canopy = Horrid IMHO

    EDIT: for Green

I like the red one best.  Try "Safety Orange" like my Beam E4.

Sorry HSL (Hue, Saturation & Luminance) or RGB (Red, Green & Blue) only
Program don't know Safety Orange from Unsafe Orange {LOL} J/K hehe, I couldn't help myself [IMG]

Could go on forever given I have 64k colours to choose from, not that I'm going to do any of them.
Think it's more an "experiment" than anything I'm actually going to do. Anyhoz swapping colours
w/ my Photo Editor was something I didn't know HOW to DO yesterday ;)

Great work w00d.  How did you change the color of the canopy without affecting the surrounding colors?

{LOL} Just pressed the button ...

... The Change Colour button which is a "type" of Flood Fill, well it's on the same menu. That in itself does a pretty good job however depending on the colour and the surrounding colours it can replace every instance of a particular colour no matter where it finds them. For the most part it does a perfect job but on the few pictures where it did effect colours outside of the canopy I simply "merged" the helicopter (no-background) into a the original which overlaid the helicopter in the original. But as I said for the most part the Change Colour function worked as advertised so no extra work was needed

hehe, thanks Yoda ... If you want to have another look I've added more colours. Included your fav, Safety Orange ;)

Got my "technique" somewhat closer to perfected ... I'm using "Masks" today which is somewhat different vs yesterdays work ...
... If interested, tutorial ---> HERE

When the "Mask" is created I saved to use it has a template, now it's simply a matter of "filling in" the new colour for each canopy and save. Done in seconds and NOW there's less differences in the backgrounds, in fact there's no DIFF as ALL the backgrounds are exactly the same. Well this is true for the last five photo's I uploaded today. If you look at the first three pictures you should see slight variations within the backgrounds of each

This method should also work w/ other photo-editors. In that case it's a matter of which buttons to press but nevertheless the idea is sound ;)

Very nice w00d.  Now in pink!  What a great way to preview a new paint job without having to actually spray any paint.  The tutorial was useful too.  I might try to do that in Photoshop with one of my trucks.  Thanks again!
