Haha, now that I've got your attention... I'm not going far. I have accepted a new job out on the coast. I'll be in the Reedsport/Winchester Bay area. I am moving there over the next two weeks to start the new year with a new home and a new career. I will be doing essentially the same thing, building boats, ships actually, for a bigger company with better possibilities for advancement, and pay! The company I am going to work for is Fred Wahl Marine Construction located on the tidal inlet of the Umpqua River. Many of you know the show Deadliest Catch on Discovery Channel. Well, they built most of those boats! They primarily build fishing and crabbing boats. I will be starting as a fitter responsible for designing and building individual parts to go in various places throughout the build. Eventually moving over to the machine shop to run that. Really looking forward to this new adventure, especially living on the coast! Merry Christmas to you all and a very Happy New Year!
You don't see those everyday running up and down the Rogue River. Hey Mike - All the best in your new home and job! Merry Christmas to you also!
Thanks guys! Really enjoy your friendships!!! I'll still get back here from time to time so we'll have to get together and catch up. And please, look me up whenever you guys get out my way!
Congratulations, and when your the big cheese running the place I want a tour of that machine shop big enough to machine ships!
Sure thing Tyson! Haha, maybe not whole ships, but they do turn their own prop shafts (!!!) Biggest damn lathes I've ever seen
