    Thanks guys.
We learn with each new experience.  I know I learned some more about what works with this paint job.

I am hoping that my parts arrive soon so I can conclude this project.

Sorry you didn't get the Hyper 10SC Smitty.

:( <--- I installed the Novak 550 motor and Havok Pro and guess what? I got some weird oscillation in the motor at low RPM. A call to Novak's support line later and I find out I've got what arrears to be a defective ESC. New one will be sent Monday so my weekend plans are out the window.

...and she was looking so sweet.

Finished the electronics installation and tested the motor and ESC. I only need a grub screw for the antenna mast and a nut for the socket head screw on the receiver box now and the truck will be ready to hit the road.

I have a near new Novak HV550 7500 brushless motor if your interested.  Actually a whole system that needs the esc sent in because like all Novak equipment it burnt itself down.

Caleb, How much do you want for the ESC and motor?

Thanks w00d - I did that line with regular blue painters masking tape on the body as a mask. There is a picture of only the tape on the body, and how I did it earlier in the thread.

Make me an offer, the esc is no good, but can be sent in for repair under there conditional warranty were they cover part of the cost.  LMK

I was considering buying this set from you and using the Novak "Legacy Upgrade Program" because I need another Goat 3S 21.5T system.  But Novak wants $87 gor the Goat 3S ESC and $67 for the Ballistic 21.5T motor = $154.  A Main Hobbies sells the Goat 3S and 21.5T motor combo new for $170 so even if you gave me the parts the postage makes it almost the same cost unless you know another way to upgrade your parts to a Goat 3S 21.5T combo.

The way I did the stripe was to take some cooking sheet wax paper and lay out wide strips of regular blue painters masking tape on both sides. Then I drew my "squiggle" stripe on one side and then I cut out the stripe. This gave me a matching stripe for the left and right sides of the car so the stripe is symmetrical.

What's not readily visible is some spots in the black lower areas on the doors. This is because I used liquid mask and I think I did not get it thick enough in some spots and the red wicked through.

Anyway, after applying the home-made tape masking for the stripe, I shot the red areas, then the black then I peeled off the masking tape for the stripe and shot candy blue. Candy blue is translucent and to get the lighter shade of blue I shot "Sprint White" behind it.

If I had to do it over again I would use the blue painters masking tape and not the liquid mask, although the liquid mask did work well for the hood louver details and the rear roll bar detail.
