I'm looking for high mAh (10,000+ mAh) 3S (11.1 volt) LiPo batteries that don't cost a fortune. Here is what I've located so far. Please post links if you know of others. Thank you.

Hobby King (only 8000 mAh but cheap):

Hobby King (8400 mAh with Traxxas connector):

Gensace does not have anything that big. But I am happy with the hobbyking battery line.

First choice - nice but $$$
Second choice - Definitely cheap but out of stock and only 30c discharge
Third choice - Nice with high discharge rate, but spendy for not quite 10k mah
Fourth choice - small mah but again, high discharge rate.

    Try this...

    http://www.hobbypartz.com/98p-40c-10000-2s2p-hardcase-direct.html

You'll have to get three of them, disassemble them and rewire into two 3s2p packs, but you'll end up with a 3s 10k mah pack with 40c discharge rate for around $90 per pack.

Thanks for the reply Mike. I would rather not re-wire any of the batteries though.

    I also found these:

    MaxAmps:

    Talk about expensive!

Can you run a parallel setup? Just a simple Y connector will plug in. I bought one for the helicopter but been too lazy to try it out I guess. I would really like to have some way to switch between batteries in flight.

Different subject, but somewhat relates. Watch the new TBS video where they switch batteries manually during a long range flight. Pretty cool.

You were there when I flew dual 6400 mAh batteries in parallel at Harbeck but suffered a prop failure. Since then I have loaded more stuff on the hexacopter so I don't know if it would lift dual 6400's now. Maybe with bigger propellers. I would use 11 inch Graupners but I would need the DJI arm extensions to make them fit.

    Did you mean this video:

That's funny. Please go outside and swap my battery. I will fly over to your house Tyson and you can pop a fresh battery in for me so I can come back home.

They flew about 10.5 miles. We'll have to show those guys how it's done.

Ummmm, least expensive way and best battery setup would be the turnigy nano's that you ordered with a parallel connector to as many as you need for capacity, hardcases would only add weight.  Also if you need something that big build your own for much much less.

Mike suggested building my own also, but I'm not comfortable with that right now.  Maybe I should give it a try on some ground models first to get my confidence up on that.
If I did build my own I would want them to be pretty and all nice and shrink wrapped.  I know that large shrink tubing is available because I saw it somewhere once.

I saw on eBay several sources for the raw LiPo cells, but I don't know if they are any good or not.  For example where does someone like "MaxAmps" get their cells and where does "Turnigy" get their cells?  I want to think that MaxAmps has better cells than Turnigy to justify the prices they charge, but how do we know for sure that they are not the same cells?

Well since I'm at work and can't elaborate to much I will tell you that Maxamp cells are actually some of the cheapest cells on the plant and are junk, search around and you will see, second most of the turnigy cells are actually decent hyperion cells in there nano tech batteries.  If I remember correctly there are respectively only three lipo cell manufactures at this time, so most batteries are actually all assembled and relabeled to suit whoever is producing them.

Where would a private person who doesn't need thousands of cells get them?  Does Hyperion sell individual cells?

I saw some 1s 10000mah cells awhile back but can't remember where. I'll do some digging when I get home tonight and report back...

Probably HobbyKing, HobbyPartz, or maybe even BananaHobby.

Do you know if they are 2S or 3S?  Is it a hard case or soft case?

It's a softcase as most batteries that size you would never see in a hardcase environment, plus hardcases in general are for idiots who can't properly place there batteries and ad size and gurth to them.  Do yourself a favor and wire some 3S packs in parallel to get the milliamps you need, the hobbyking turnigy matched cells are great for this as that is what they are meant for.
