w00d always has me on the edge of my chair when he flies in the house!  Seriously w00d, maybe it's the angle, but I thought you were going to hit the desk one time in that video but then you calmly hovered away from it.

Installing and hiding the Castle Creations ICE100. In order to install and FIT the 100amp ICE I
needed to shave a little plastic off the inside of the two frame sides otherwise the frame will not close.
This MOD is not needed if installing the ICE75 as this ESC fits inside the frame perfectly

Thanks for noticing that Yoda.  ???
I had moved those photos in Photobucket from the main page, to my Trex 500 album. Ya always get a notice that "links may be broken if you move photos". Just never came back here to check.  ::)
Got it sorted out now I think.

I've done a little work on the scale fuse. Just the landing gear, but the closer I get to actually doing the conversion the less I think I want to. I like my sexy Rexy 500 just like it is.
I am now thinking of getting one of the HK 500 helis or perhaps just a frame and boom with at TT tail to build this scale like heli.  :-\

Nice job on the photos wOOd. The reflection in the fuse graphics, not by design I take it.  :)  Looks like modern art.  ;D

Bear with and just for FUN gents we're trying to respond using my iPod, operative word being "TRYING"

GP, how many MEG-Pix does your CAM have ? Only curious ...

Yes Bill your right it's the reflections I dislike ... Going to FIX in the morning

Thanks Guys, I like to think I'm getting better at the picture taking. I read a few tutorials on product photography that I think is helping me get better ...

My secret is in the lighting, SOFT white lighting, different and various angles just to name a few of teh sectrets. AND never EVER do I use the FLASH

Still as ya can see w/ the canopy WE gets it WRONG sometimes ...

HaHa, I was only going to replace the photo's I didn't like but thought it would be FUN to compare so I'm posting the FIX here.
Here's what I got w/ a cup of Joe, 15 min (spent more time making this post) and a wee bit of PaintShop Pro X4 trickery ...

... what we got --->

              [IMG]
              Click Click Larger - Sorry but the photo is High RES, normally I would reduce the colour count for faster rendering to teh WEB

The larger we make or blow up the PIC the easier it is to see what I did to FIX, pretty simple really. However the BEST way to FIX
the crappy pictures is to simply re-shoot  ;)

        [shadow=Orange,left]w00d[/shadow]

EDIT: MOre photo's added to my original POST

As you know broked postings is the only problem w/ PhotoBucket and I do understand the need to keep our Main Page free of clutter so what I'm saying is NOT really applicable in this instance. However for photo's in my Albums I got out of the habit of using the "Move" command in an effort to preserve any past postings. I use the "copy" command instead! Of course I have the PhotoBucket's Unlimited storage so carbon copy's is NOT that BIG of an issue ... Anyhowz jus sayin, just sharing ;)

I hear ya wOOd.
If I had put the photos where they belonged to start with and "linked" from there, it would have been a non issue too. Just got lazy.  :-[

{LOL} Tell me about it, look at my Main Page

The fist 4 photo's which includes my fleet photo I can't move because I too was too "lazy" at some point in the past ...
... and NOW because I used the links I'm stuck with them on my Main Page forever, pft [IMG]

PS: So THAT lead me to another RULE I made for myself, NEVER link off teh damned Main Page {LMAO}

I don't know actually.  It's a Fujifilm S-5100.  I believe I got it around 2004(?).

Too bad as I had a TIP to share w/ ya ... For what I had/have in mind requires many mega-pix. Anyhowz here is my TIP as it may still work for y'all. If your CAM don't have a MACRO feature take your next photo at the MAX possible mega-pix and at a distance where we're SURE to be in focus, then "select, copy'n paste" the area ya need a small (MACRO) picture into a NEW pic. Hope that makes sense as it's NOT my best wording ;) Believe it or NOT my NIKON don't have a MACRO feature like we see on many make and models. If I want MACRO I pretty much need to buy a MACRO Lens ($800) to do it right or at least to get those microscopic views ... In any case this is the method all my close in views use, it's like "virtual" Macro ... FYI: [shadow=Orange,left]w00d[/shadow]

FUN Stuff, DID another run-up w/ my GAUI ep255

The other DAY's VID was the result after the Throttle-Curve was SET @ 85% (0.85.85.85.85) which I thought pretty good ... Flew a comfortable hover, which I described has "pretty stable" w/ a flight time of 8min ... If I remembered teh time correctly, I know I wrote it down someplace, meh

              FAST Forward ---> to today's TEST flight

We SET the Throttle-Curve to a meager 70% (0.70.70.70.70) 15% less than the last flight and again flying was a clean very satisfactory flight. She flew very stable with what seemed like a slower more relaxed and enjoyable fly ... Well I certainly felt more relaxed! Yes a somewhat subjective description but was so stable we could FLY a Key-Chain or Tiger's Cube Camera without issue. Going to {LMAO} invent a NEW term "Cube CAM Stable Platform (CCSP)"

... Not impressed yet, does the 11 min+ flighting impress [IMG] Going to do another VID to prove this round of speriments!

Then I'm going to try 65% or an even 60% to see what we get for a CCSP {LOL} Going for 15 min

YES but of course these are under ideal conditions, indoors, simply hovering and the most important factor being NO WIND. So everything should be taken with old-proverbial-GRAIN-of-Salt. Could be worse, could be a cryptic one-liner

Okay guys, I've started ordering the bits and pieces for the mechanics for the 500E. Just didn't have the heart to tear my 500 apart to use it in the fuse.
From what I have read, I should be able to get by with out any e-stabilization, I'll give that a go first.
I was thinking of using a 1300 kv motor for more torque and a lower head speed. HK has one that should work.
The instructions with the Align head suggest using their 425D blades and I do already have one set of them. They weigh about 120g for the set. I also have a set of the Mavrikk 430's that weigh in at about 132g. One would think the heavier blades would help more keeping the heli stable. Any thoughts on blades or motor? :-\

Re: Blades, asked and answered Bill ...

... I really liked what you suggested the other day given your motor concerns. Airfoil (the WING, Flat-bottom/Curved-above) shaped for the added LIFT those blades would obviously bring. And if possible even for any other blade you might buy if not the "airfoil" those being the lightest blades possible. It's pretty much everything you advised me when I was putting together my scale bird, the UH-1 Huey ...

HeHe, my tossing the question back aside Bill as far has the question of blades go I'm really looking to see what you do to apply to MY scale build

However if nothing else I would also suggest the cheapest blades possible even though it goes against my better judgment and nature but at least if ONLY to FIND where you stand during the maiden and thus your testing. Then when you know what to expect then I would go for the premium blades but again only after you know what you are going to expect after the first round of testing

That said and although it seems I'm ALL over the map in teh recommendations from what I know and found w/ my scale project WEIGHT is going to be your BIG issue. So I would look to the best performing and lightest components possible but also to keep in mind the practicality of the components you are looking to get, weight at the expense of performance is certainly NOT good IMO

And yeah I do hear the distant echoes of my own voices when I transformed my loved TRex into the Huey. I almost hated to DO-it, NO I really DID NOT what to RIP apart MY darling TRex. Truth is as easy it be to take apart it's even easier  to PUT HER BACK into the TRex 450 I truly do and STILL LUV ... So I see it NO difference it being your build Bill just gotta suck it in and get it done as this too, these feeling shall pass ...

My little Rexy is safe.  ;)
I've ordered a fiberglass main frame kit and tt tail to build the mechanics. I still have servos, the gyro and a number of other goodies and spare parts to keep the shopping list fairly short.

The question I am asking myself about blades is, wouldn't the wide cord Mavrikk blades be almost as efficient as the asymmetrical. I already have one set, they're a little heavier than the Align and I could paint them flat black to get a scale look.

While working on the new head awhile ago I noticed in the instruction sheet this caution, "Use FL main shaft". The flybarless main shaft is 148.8mm while the regular one is 153.3. I am using the regular one on the 500 but the head on it is a little longer. I don't know if it's really a caution or just something to get one to buy more parts.  :-\

Judging from what I have read, it's going to be best to build the mechanics, weight it down to what the gvw of the heli is going to be and test before installing in the fuse. Seems to make sense. Be much easier to make adjustment plus much less to repair if you had a mishap.
