    I did it..  ;D
I had to hold a pen about 8" from my nose and focus on that, then the 3d heli came into view after a bit.

Not so much I think.  ;D

The smaller one works easiest for me.

Yes, there were a few offices around that had the posters on the wall. Always had time at the Dr.'s office to look at it long enough to see what ever it was and with the strange cross eyed look, ya fit right in.  ;D

I know, I know, it's not video but it's something.
This is at a project my old crew are working on and I thought it would be cool to get some before, during and after video, or at least some stills from above. This day produced nothing from the heli. The camera viberated so badly I couldn't even get a still without it being wavy.
More back yard trial and error.  ::)

Those are some cool photos Bill.  Sorry to hear about your video and stills from the helicopter.  Maybe you can take some photos of the mounting method you are using to hold the camera to the helicopter for us to have a look at.  I don't have a lot of experience with helicopter camera mounts but Pelagic Pilot does.  We might be able to offer you some ideas.

I am doing almost as I used to. In the past I had used a velcro strap through the heli frames to hold the camera on. The last attempts were with a single rubber band and I have since made up another to try as you see in the photos. The camera is cradled in a slightly hollowed out piece of closed cell foam. I would have thought the rubber bands would transfer less vibration than the velcro.
Has Pelagic Pilot got some photos of his setup posted somewhere?

Hi Bill - Have you tried softer foam?  It looks like you are using poly foam and that is probably too stiff.  I also believe that you do not want to be using any type of straps that constrict like rubber or elastic bands.  I think you actually need to have your mount looser than you have it and surrounded on the four sides that your strapping contacts so the camera more or less is floating inside the foam.

Just finished a couple flights, first with the double rubber bands then with double rubber bands and softer foam. The first was much better than yesterday but still some jello effect, the softer foam worse than yesterday.
    More testing to come.  ;)

I am not using any straps at all.  I fixed a Snapware food container to the bottom of my DJI F550 and inside is the very compliant memory foam.  The camera is a semi snug fit into a notch cut into the foam inside the bowl.  The bowl lid is fixed tightly to the bottom of the F550 frame so I can un-snap the four tabs on the lid to remove the bowl to install or remove the camera.
The Snapware bowl acts like a excellent landing gear too.  Win-win!

    That looks pretty slick John.
I wish I had a bit of the gel pad thats used for gyro's etc.

I tried a number of different ways to attach the camera today, some of them worked much better but I still have jello.  :(
The last attempt was a plastic box just larger than the camera, that the camera sits in unattached other than foam to hold it in place. I stuck about 2 ounces of lead to the bottom of the box to give it some bulk and it helped a little but I need to try and find some of that gel pad to lay the camera on.

    Thank you Bill.

It's probably more difficult to get rid of jello on a helicopter because it seems there are more vibration frequencies.
Do you have a Android or iPhone?  If so you could install one of the vibration apps.  I am using this one:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lul.vibration.monitoring

The graph can tell you the frequency you are having.  Maybe you could even fly your phone in the place of the camera and record what the camera is getting.

Don't own a smartphone so I'll need to work it out the old fashioned way, whatever that is.  :)
I have made some progress and I'll work on it a little more this weekend. I've thought of a couple more things to try so we'll see.

Good luck.  You could also get a camera like Pelagic Pilots with a CCD.  His seems completely jello free on his helicopter.  Have you seen his posts about it?

I used gyro foam to mount the camera to the heli, the CCD will not jello, but it will blur if there is vibration. A blur is less annoying to me than jello, but still trying to make it "perfect" I am shopping today for a food container that will fit my new camera and memory foam. Your helicopter can lift a LOT of weight, so adding more metal to absorb vibs would be good to try, I would try 16 ounces just to see, and adjust from there.

I am drawing a blank, CCD?
Your are right about being able to handle weight, I plan to add more to the container I fashioned for the camera to sit in.
    Thanks for the input.  ;)

You posted some photos some time back I think but I can't seem to find them.

Here is what I have been using, but I still want it to be better, so still looking at options.

    Nice.
I looked at some of your other YouTube video with that camera. Far better than what I am getting.
