This video has me sold on the stabilization of the Naza: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJ8kbm2dFUg Frisbee anyone?
I don't think the Naza is GPS capable. It looks like the Zaircraft electronics are, or will be soon: http://xaircraftusa.com/Expansion.html Here is one flying:
For you electronic component guys: It looks like the module Xaircraft shows in the link above (http://xaircraftusa.com/Expansion.html) is a older model: http://www.u-blox.com/en/lea-5s.html The newer modules can be found here: http://www.u-blox.com/en/gps-modules.html The're modules have some very interesting capabilities. One is capable of < 1 meter accuracy. Other modules have dead reckoning capabilities that could be useful in RC flying.
Good Luck Buy has the Naza: http://www.goodluckbuy.com/dji-naza-multirotor-stabilization-controller-for-quadcopters.html So does Hobby Wing: http://hobby-wing.com/dji-naza-flight-controller.html
Can't beat the price, that thing would have you up and flying like a pro in a matter of minutes, FPV would be effortless in all weather conditions ;D
FoxtechFPV also stocks the Naza controller. $229.99 This is where I have purchased most of my FPV stuff. Their prices are always among the lowest and I can honestly say I have never been disappointed with either the product ordered, or the service recieved. A great company that actually cares about their customers! The link is below http://www.foxtechfpv.com/djinaza-multirotor-controller-p-399.html
Thank you Mike, they do have good prices at Fox Tech. I tried to fly last night but then the wind kicked up to hurricane level, seriously strong. The wind blew the quad all over the place and lifted it way up when I was giving down throttle. It took me a few minutes just to get it back down on the ground. What a ride!
My Naza arrived today. I just replaced a Scorpion motor that I bent a shaft on so the GAUI-500X will be all fresh and ready to go as soon as I install and setup the Naza. I am pressing my thumbs for some nicer weather.
John - Let me know when you are ready to fly that so I can come and watch. I got the shipping notice on mine, but no telling when I'll get the time to build it up. Maybe if I see yours fly, I'll get really motivated. ...Tiger
And here I was thinking you was buying their entire airframe, still the price of that controller given it's capabilities looks like a sweet deal Congrats Yoda
Of course I didn't have time to get it installed yesterday when it wasn't raining, but now it is in and working. All I can say is WOW! But because it is raining I only hovered it under our porch, I wasn't as brave as w00d to hover it in the living room. This thing hovers scary stable.
I did another hover on the porch this evening since it's been raining non-stop. This time I ran it until the battery got low and the Naza went into fail-safe mode. Very nice how if drifted down. I was only about six feet in the air so it wasn't a high risk test, but it was cool just the same. I still cannot get over how stable this thing is. My GU-344 was stable, but this is a whole other animal! Another thing I've noticed is how easy it is to get the quad to stay put at a fixed hover where the GU-344 was almost a constant throttle ride to keep it at a certain height.
Are you using attitude control? Will it level itself out when you let go of the cyclic? If so then the real fun of flying is about to begin, and can join the club of us who's pilot skills have gone down the toilet
I only flew in attitude mode so far. These flights have been on my porch so I am trying not to hit the roof support posts. Not much room to try much, but I can say the last battery pack I was flying a few times no hands like in their video. When I am able to fly in a larger space I will try flying and letting go of the stick to see what happens. How bad can it be? Right Tiger?
It's been raining non-stop for what, 48 hours now? Sheesh. I'm going to do a anti-rain dance anytime now.
Your too. I think it has been going on for longer than that here. I'm ready for some sunshine. Hope the dance works.
