I wonder if that is why when you see some FPV guys flying they are sitting and seem to be trying to stay still. Maybe Fat Shark should include a barf bag in the box. ;)

A fella could use the empty box the goggles came in I guess. :)
It makes a strong case for sitting, that's for sure.

I've just come in for a little night drive around the back yard, the lights on the truck are bright enough to go into the darkest areas and still see well enough to get around ok. I can actually go further around the house than I expected for being on the ground and this system being line of sight.

The more I fiddle with this system on the truck, I think I like your idea of being able to switch between truck and quad. I'll have to see if I can come up with a lightweight mount for the camera and vtx that is easy to swap. It make take some doing as I want the camera on the quad to look up and down, so it will have the servo wire plus another wire for the ods to deal with that will probably be hard to reach on the quad.

I remember there were some videos of a guy who was driving around with his RC truck and I thought that was pretty cool.

You're running 5.8 Ghz for the FPV signal right?

I'm sure you'll be able to come up with a solution that is pretty easy to swap between your truck and quadcopter. Maybe you can mount the FPV camera tilt mechanism in the truck so it looks side to side and in the quadcopter looks up and down?

    Correct.

That would take some time and fiddling to work that out.

I'm going to order another cable that goes between the camera and the vtx because I'll need to hack into this one to get the ods installed on the quad. It'll be useless for the truck after I do that.

Maybe that's the trick, making the wiring so it stays in each model and only the actual gear is moved.

Right , that's what the extra cable is for. ;)

I've not posted for a while on this so here is an update.
The video gear is still on the truck but will be moved soon to the quad.
The youngest granddaughters (7 & 9) were here overnight recently and I let them both drive the truck around with goggles on. They did great. Thought it was awesome.
Santa is bringing a DVR similar to the one I mentioned earlier so hopefully, some time not to far off, I can post something as seen through the goggles.

The regular price for the same one at hobbywireless.com is five dollars less. Think I'm going to order that one myself today. I've bought a lot of stuff from HW and they're great. Never heard of getfpv, but I'm going to check them out to. You can't have to many sources for your toys. :)

    Well.... Now you tell me!

I just went there again and I didn't see either of those offers so maybe it ended on cyber monday or something. I did look around at some other stuff and some of the other prices looked good. I'll keep these guys bookmarked.

You're right, it was only on for a few days, I think their free ground shipping still applies though.
I should have posted like we did last year when the good deals pop up on the sites we use. There will likely be more as we get closer to Christmas and I'll link the ones that look good in another thread.

When I was first looking into an ODS for the quad I came across this video that pretty much sold me. :)

I think if you've got a DJI Naza, or other DJI flight controller, the DJI OSD is the way to go.

Santa brought the little dvr a little early and I was going to do a fpv video for you, mounted on the truck but I've run in to a bit of a wiring issue. The av cable for the dvr is not wired the same as the fatshark one. I thought I could just find a source for the RCA female couplers and fasten the wires so they are compatible but looking at the drawings, I don't think it's doable unless I'm missing something. Why couldn't I just cut off what I don't need from both and splice them together? I've not messed with av stuff much before so hopefully someone checking this might offer some advice as to do it or not. (the cutting and splicing) ;)

The photoshopped drawings below show what the issue is.
The 4 pole pin is the output on the goggles and the dvr uses the same style for input but one slightly smaller in diameter.

    I didn't catch that.
I've fixed that in this photo along with showing what I am wondering is feasible. I have the same question posted over on fpvlabs but not got any input from there.
Surely someone is using the same gear.
