We will have a couple tracks in Grants Pass very soon. One from Sleadd's and this one at the Josephine County Fairgrounds: http://southernoregonrc.com/index.php?topic=985.0
Excellent. Greg, please take everything said as constructive criticism and work with what's been said. The last thing we need is a bunch of people banned for having opinions.
I'm not 100% on this, but I think it's considered a private club. I'm not sure exactly what that means, but I don't think membership is open to the public anymore. You can't buy membership like you used to. Now you get a "track discount card." That's directly from the club's website www.roguevalleyrcclub.com It says nothing about being an official member, attending meetings, voicing opinions, voting on decisions or electing officials.
Also, looks like there's finally an update on the page. Weather permitting they'll race 5/6/12. Call me a hypocrite, but as boring and poorly managed as it is, racing is fun and I'll go. That's what happens when you've got the only game in town. :
Weak dude, your one of the few that keep em goin STOP going and they won't have a reason to keep it. Like last year, they and I'll gladly drive the distance to race elsewhere and I knowthere's many others with me on that. The layout is lame as hell and the surface sucks ass and you gotta pay to put your car on it. The amain track was free! To practice on and like 10 to race and we had in and out for lunch! Had power, water, bathroom and on site pro hobby warehouse for parts.
Language please! Maybe we should talk A Main Hobbies into leaving tax heavy California and bringing some industry and jobs to Oregon! Grants Pass Rocks. If Home Depot can come here so can they!
Sorry, but I enjoy racing and practicing and if I don't have to drive 60 miles to do it, I will. I don't agree with everything they're doing, but that doesn't mean that I'm not going to enjoy my hobby because of it. I work hard to earn money to support my hobby, I have the right to run on that track if I pay my entry fee. Also, boycotting and shutting the facility down is not going to solve the problem at hand. I don't want it to fold up, I just want a change of management. If the club and track fold up the county is going to see the whole thing as a failure and likely not want to support the cause again in the near future. I'm well aware that there are facilities that are nicer, better run and more fun. I've been to a few of them, but that doesn't change my mind that some times I just want to get some track time and I don't want to drive to Chico to do that.
GP Racer, this is the second time your language has been unacceptable. Please edit your post and refrain from using profanity. Thank you - the moderating team.
Excellent. Greg, please take everything said as constructive criticism and work with what's been said. The last thing we need is a bunch of people banned for having opinions. [/quote] Constructive criticism is always accepted and appreciated. Granted, there are more efficient ways to give criticism other than rantings on a public forum. Also, I have never known any person to get banned from any club for simply having an opinion. When opinions turn into obsession, then problems begin. As far as track lay out, this is the first I have heard of any negative feedback. I personally thought the design was well thought out and fun to race on. Granted, it needs a few more jumps, but all in all it is a decent track. However, if anyone has ideas of a better design/layout, draw it up and get it to me. greg
Greg, thanks for understanding and taking the complaints positively. There seems to be a handful of people that want to see RVRC burn to the ground, but I really, really really want to see the place succeed. It's a good facility and honestly, there's people that have a problem with the people behind the scenes. As far as track layout, I personally just find it "flat" and a little too tight. Every other track (besides R/C Addiction's track) I've ever raced on isn'tbuilt from a grid. They have angled, sweeping corners, elevation changes and at least one section for big air. At the White City track every corner is either a 90-degree or 180-degree corner. Variety is nice. I'd be more than willing to draw up a couple designs that I think would be fun. I could come up with, let's say three designs, post them all on here with a poll embedded and have a vote. Good idea? Let me know the track dimensions and I'll work something up.
I don't wanna see the track or location burn at all,I just don't want the type of people who choose track surface to make more tire sales runnin it. Throw that huge pile of clay back on and build a nexus designed track and actually make a club membership worth getting and I'm all in for some white city fun. For me,it doesn't matter if one place has a monopoly on something and are doody heads at the same time,I will not support them in any way. Also the chico track was just a reference for how awesome tracks can be,I've been to allot of tracks in my rc days so my criticism isn't just talkin poop out of my bum bum. Also sorry for my language before,I grew up in shops from fabrication shops to paintball shops and around strait up peoples where language is just that, something used to speak your mind. I did PG it for yall tho.
I realize this is taking this way off subject, but I just had to let GP Racer know that I literally laughed out loud at "talking poop out of my bum bum." Maybe I'm childish, but that was funny.
I appologize, but I stopped reading right there... If anyone thinks that the White City black sticky clay is a good racing surface (for anything) they are mistaken. The clay pile that was removed was absolutely attrocious!!! The surface on the track now is pretty decent. It has a fairly high clay percentage, yet enough sand to be stable. The best part of the the dirt right now is its stability. The surface doesn't deteriorate very fast. That translates into a more consistant track for longer race periods. With all that said, do I think the dirt is "perfect"? No, I don't. But it is what I have to work with and 10,000% better than the native black sticky clay. Until something better comes along, that is what we can expect. But the good news, everyone gets to race on the same surface! To discuss an earlier comment regarding tire wear, are you referring to a dry track condition causing your wear? During normal moist track racing conditions, tire wear is typically minimal. @Gp Racer, just wanted to make an public appology if this post comes across as a personal attack to you. This is by no means an attack, just an explanation of why things are the way they are. greg
Thanks for the info, Greg. I have no history with this track therefore I am open to it all. It will be great to have a track near me, can't always just hop in the truck and drive to GP. As a re-born rc enthusiast, it sounds like fun. That's all I'm about. Like Nexus, I don't really want to load up the family and drive to Crapifornia every few weekends. And I don't currently care if you've got a full-on hobby shop that's plated in gold, is five stories tall, and has a pool on top. What's even better is when I'm done there, I can scoot over to the range and let off a few rounds! How is the track affiliated with RC Addiction? I see they're not a sponsor. Joe
