First post here, good to see we've got a (new) forum up and running. I'm itching to get out there again. And I've got a secret weapon this time.
@ gp racer, todd @ toadzrc.com (redding) runs a durango sc too, you might try calling as i don't think they have em (shorty) on website. he might be able to help you locate in time for race. @ nexus, hey they have one (losi 22t) @ sleadz in gp, got to hold it and wish i had one too. i think we'll see a few of these pop up @ local races, stadium just got a whole lot cooler. 8)
You know, while I'm here I feel like sharing my opinion about the White City facility. I don't intend to create or add to any drama, but I feel opinions are meant to be spoken. I was part of RVRC in the beginning. I was there when a handful of people drove into a grassy field to assess the situation. I was elected an officer position in the club and served it for a bit more than a year. I went to club meetings, officer meetings and voted on important decisions. The club was work, but it was also fun. The atmosphere was different and there seemed to be a general sense of direction. With that said, since then things seemed to have drastically fallen apart. Chad took the reigns after Jason resigned and the track and club changed directions. It became more of an 1/8-scale track, which was okay because it brought more people out. 1/10-scale had some difficult times on sections of the track but it was still fun, and I (personally) still enjoyed it. My biggest complaint during those seasons was the lack of organization and timeliness. Now, the club doesn't seem to be a club anymore. It seems like somebody's personal track. It doesn't feel as though club members have a voice, which I think is very important. In fact, I don't think they have club members anymore. If you pay into the club, you get a "track discount card" and that's it. I believe that something needs to change, because the track(s) have incredible potential that isn't being realized. People aren't happy with the way the track is run, who it's run by and even with the tracks themselves. The surface of the off-road track is abysmal and the layout is flat and frankly, boring. I've been to quite a few tracks, racing and spectating and RVRC has the most boring layout I've seen or raced on. I'm not saying that it needs huge jumps, big banks and elevation changes, but those things are fun and people like it. When it comes down to it, people want to like racing and right now people don't like racing at RVRC. A change of leadership might help, but only if the powers that be are willing to lay down the reigns and let the new blood take things in a new direction. Am I wrong?
+1 That area is great and has huge potential. [/quote] Thanks. I feel like I'm one of the few who really enjoy racing. Not just bashing on a racetrack, but RACING. In order to race, we need turnout. In order to get turnout, something needs to change.
I'm with you on that. Before moving to Oregon I came from so cal which has tons of tracks, some good some bad but thete are many to choose from. Here WC is the closest spot and it plain out sucks,if they were smart at all they would listen to the racers and do what we suggest cuz that's what would keep us happy and coming back. That's why I asked if there was a way to take over .
I'm sure there is. A new "track director" (or directors?) would have to be assigned/voted/elected. Then you'd likely still have the owners/operators of RC Addiction on the board of directors, likely dictating most everything. But, I'm sure there's a way to change anything. Nothing can be set in stone and concrete until the end of time. It just takes the right person with the right initiative and the willingness and capability to commit. I'd do it, though.

The most effective thing to do would be to find out when the next RVRC board elections are to be held then get enough people to join the club that a "hostile takeover vote" could occur. This is more or less how Chad was able to take control of the club back in the day. Something else that comes to mind is that there seem to be more people outside of Medford/White City racing so a change of club location might also be possible. I'm referring to the RCRV management and board meeting location, not necessarily of the track location.
RVRC is a private club, not open to the public. It does not have members, minions rather. I was member, at end of year members were not told, nor alowed to vote on club board members. Otherwise the members would have positivley removed board of directers in effort to bring respect back to the club. Once the board realized they were at risk to be voted out, they had private meetings to change the rules, so they could not be removed. In essence RVRC disentegrated itself to save it's current board members. As a Private club, they can do anything they want. I choose to travel elsewhere
Thats the only way I see something positive happening that will be worth while and actually draw a crowd of racers. There needs to be some new direction to racing in our area. Gene, Betty, and RC Addiction have all but ruined racing in our area and driven scores of good people away with a sour taste for racing and clubs myself included. We have tons of good drivers and a lot of guys with construction and or track building experience in the area so we should get it together and make it happen. Also as a side note I know about 2 private tracks that will be getting opened up here soon also. They will be a safe haven for all those who want to leave all the bureaucracy aside and just come out and race with friends and have a good time. I'm working on getting a timing and lap system together for mine right now also. I would love to get back into racing again but always feel its a waste of time and money because our hometown doesnt even support it.
Let's do it! I'm so ready to race, winter is lasting too long. What area are those 2 tracks in? It took 2 visits to rc addiction to push me from dealing with em at all.
I can say that from an "outsider's" perspective, the whole RVRC thing was really pretty lame. The whole atmosphere seems very guarded, not very open to the public. I think that if they were trying to keep people from learning about their club, race schedule, etc. they couldn't do a better job. It's a shame because like other's have said, it does have potential. That said, I'm excited to have and support our local hobby shops in Grants pass and work towards having a dedicated track for "EVERYONE" to enjoy.

This is very, very true. The saddest part about this, is that it wasn't that way to begin with. The club was initially very "open". There were regular meetings and anybody (public or club member) was allowed to attend them and speak, but only club members could vote on decisions, et cetra. The fact is that it's changed and it's not fun.
