Apparently DJI is soon to release an update to the NAZA-H software that address the right drift issue.

I don't think I'll do any more experimentation and tweaking on the heli until it comes out. I'll likely have to start over any way.
At least this time I am familiar with it.  ;)

DJI shows a firmware update from December 13th, 2012, but I presume you already have that one.

On the Naza-M assistant there is a popup each time you start which indicates the latest firmware and assistant software available and what you currently have installed.  I would imagine that the Naza-H assistant has a similar feature.

The 500 is now NAZA equipped. Absolutely no issues with this setup, no messing with the default setting in the assistant. Only had to lower the gain in the TX a bit.
Flies beautifully in all modes and actually does a much better job at hovering than I can.  :-[

One of these would take a lot of the worry out of flying that Vibe John.

Did you move the Naza-H from your 600 to your 500, or did you get a second Naza-H?

    I'll see what I can do. ;)
The NAZA on the 500 is being powered at the moment by the stock align esc/bec. I think I'll change that and use the included one then get a couple shots of the installation.
We have a week or more of dry weather due so I'll try to get out and get a little video also.

Here's a few shots of the installation. It actually hides pretty nicely in the 500 after taking the bottom plate off the frames and attaching the wiring while it was apart.

Here I've attached the NAZA bec to deans power plug to run off the main pack.

Single S buss wire along with the NAZA bec wire makes it pretty clutter free.

This shot shows the plugs from the other end. The one on the left is the esc wire with the power lead pulled and covered with heatsrink.

Your right it does hide pretty good, I had a hard time seeing it that first photo ...
The video will be interesting ... Luv to see her hovering ;)

Here's a little news/information from DJI about the NAZA-H that was posted by a member over on Helifreak.

How is it going with your Naza-H units Bill?  Did you get the GPS option for both?

Not much happening the past few days with the helis. It's not wet but cold and grey here. They keep promising some sunshine and if it does before the rain comes back I have the cameras charged up and I'll try to get a video of the 500 hovering around a bit.

    Yes, both units have GPS.

I think the 600 will sit until the software update comes out. It does fly OK but I'll have to make changes with the update. The 500 flies like a champ with no messing with the software so it will get it's picture taken.  ;)

I'm about ready to start rebuilding the MD500, I think all the parts are at hand but the hard part will be making the fuse look decent again. There are a number of cracks that show through to the outside, none really bad (structurally) but quite noticeable with the pretty paint job it has. It will probably get an OD military paint job, something I should be able to do with a rattle can.

I look forward to it.  We had a couple really nice days here but I couldn't take advantage of them.  It looks like Tuesday could be a fly day!

I'm still sorry about your MD500, that was a really cool helicopter.  I hope you do revive it.  Can't you re-do the original paint scheme?

I'm sure it could be done but don't think I'm up to the task. Not sure how one would deal with the hairline cracks.
With a flat paint, in military colors, I was thinking they wouldn't show to badly with out all the extra work.  :-\

We'll see when I take it apart.
I do have the can of red paint you suggested that matched well and I'll need to repaint the tail feathers because all I could get in replacement parts was black.

If it's fiberglass you should talk to a Corvette auto body person on what they do with cracks.  Maybe there is a fiberglass "bondo" type stuff?

I didn't mean to imply that a camouflage paint job wouldn't also be nice, I just thought that it looked great in red and maybe was maybe easier to see in the sky.

I went out to put a little more time on the 500 in the back yard today but couldn't get the NAZA to initialize correctly.
The quick start guide says not to fly without the proper led code and contact DJI about the problem.
I've sent them a note with the code that it was flashing, so we'll soon see how well they are at customer service.  :)
