Traxxas will look at both my motor and esc. They will replace what ever is faulty, motor will be switched out whole for a new one.3 to 5 day turn on their end=sounds good to me.I will let you know if they walk their talk-I am optimistic  :)

I remenber that JROCK-you were right =I may need both replaced-shipping cost the same w/ or w/o sending the ESC, so I sent the ESC too.I really didn't want to pull the rotor out of a new motor-but ended up having to.---So, my friend ,you were correct=thanks.

I recieved an e mail from traxxas today-they will be sending me a new vxl 3s.They suggested using a smaller pinion for heavy loads, like running in grass  ??? I guess that's an "F.Y.I"---Also,their warrenty is 100% for the first 30 days ,w/ dated proof of purchase , $55.00 after that for a replacement esc. *All warrentys void if using a different style battery plug.*~~~~~I hope "vxl 3s " includes a motor and motor plate in the return package, they have have been as good as a business can be so far-and still turn a profit.

Excellent!  I don't know if you noticed today, but on the north side of the parking lot where we were is another grassy knoll with some sweeping embankment.  I will finish the last bits of my short course truck so we can run them next weekend if you can make it out again.

I'll try to be there next Saturday, if I don't go to the coast. My wife has been very good to me , and she deserves a vacation (not that it isn't a little self serving on my part).I plan on having a 1/16 Revo or a 1/16 Summit, by my next visit, along w/ my nitro tc3 & or my OFNA nitro GTP (those have cheep AM radios) ,and have not ran them around other cars.
I should try to car pool a few Medford guys over there-You guys should meet JRock-he has some fast nitro-maybe he can make it ?

That would be great if you can make it again next weekend.  I'd like to see your OFNA and TC3 too.  If you can bring some others out with you that would also be great.

I went ahead and swithched to a 12t pinion (as suggested by Traxxas...for bashing type conditions)=finally ran the Slash today for about 5 minutes.I hooked up the 11.1 lipo, and it is back to pulling the front wheels w/ a nice hard pulling rpm range=fixed.
THE MORAL TO THE STORY : if your new Traxxas is having issues, call their toll free tech. team right away(prefeably in the first month of ownership, keep your proof of purchase receipt(needed). I am very pleased w/ the staff ,they kept all promises made, and backed their 100%.---------------no doubt this is why Traxxas keeps a dog in the fight:good product, great service.

What was the tooth count on the pinion before you switched to a 12 tooth?

GPS:13 tooth was stock w/ my kit,Traxxas suggested dropping one tooth if running in grass and/or running on and off the throttle(things that would create heat) "Bashing"...ya, I know, "whatever" huh...I believe they had a bad run with a few of these systems. So, for the cost of a pinion gear,I remove myself from, "at fault".I still like Traxxas' product and service, and have been looking at 1/8 17mm on road wheels and adapters, along with some kind of body that won't make it airborn (any kind, possibly a dirt oval style).

OK, thanks.  Maybe the system runs cooler now also.  Have you noticed any difference?

Well, last Saturday at "B" St. my 4wd Slash started making a squeeling noise=Velineon #2 ,magnet came loose from the shaft -not off, but is spinning free on the shaft... very little use on this truck (3s 11.1volt LIPO's seem to kill Velineons)
"Done"-please remind me how you said you fixed this problem with yours. You said you "pinned it"???-
    ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Have you called Traxxas support?  Might be worth a try if it's the second one that's failed on you.  They are pretty decent about replaceing parts if they haven't been abused and I don't thank you have abused yours.
