I've had a brushless nqd for some time now . I recently acquired another nqd that had a hard life so I've decided lets see how this little boat like nitr I've got a trx 3.3 that I'm making a water cooled head for I've taken the stock jet pump and added a octura beryllium prop machined to fit with .005 clearance and added a 5mm shaft with bearings frt and back smoothed the inside of water intake made a aluminum motor mount that ties the pump to the engine that's it for now if you want to see how the build progresses let me know I will keep posting

Always love to see custom work! Some of us here have NQD's with brushless conversions, but as far as I know, no one has a nitro version. Really can't imagine that small hull on nitro! Keep up the posts, can't wait to see this rip!

image.jpg image.jpg Well here's what I've got done so far I was going to use a three blade prop but it was way to big so had to go with a two blade the stock impeller had a huge gap between the pump housing and the blades of the impeller like .012 + so I am machining the octura beryllium prop for .005 almost there now I got it mounted on 5mm stainless shaft I've also made my motor mount that marries the engine to the pump I'm hoping this will take some of the stress off the hull I've still got a ways to go but all in all it's coming along

Got my engine and jet pump mount finished today and the prop I modified is a octura x432 compared to the nqd prop it has almost quadruple the blade surface area had to go a different route on water cooling I will be making the water jacket tomorrow almost have this project ready for the tear down and clean and paint process waa hoo

here are pics from my previous post and what I did since check out the fit of that prop I've got the engine and jet pump so I could install them and do a test run but the engine is new with only break in done I left the extra aluminum on the mount so I can attach the servos and fuel tank to it I made my water cooled jug with 1 1/2 galvanized conduit and the plug in the top is a fine use of a trx 15 flywheel it will get a water pressure test today and I will start the clean up and paint process

Did you shave down the head cooling fins, or is that how they come?

Is that how most water cooled nitro boat heads are?

Is that a boat motor or did you take a truck/car motor and mod it?

Will that NQD be able to float all that?

I think so I did the Redneck test piled all the nitro parts in my yellow nqd and grabbed my brushless nqd and maybe I'm deranged but nitro boat feels lighter and there's one on you tube with a hpi nitrostar 15 it runs pretty good
