Think you hit the nail on the head with that one Tyson. That's exactly how they do it. They probably just missed putting one on for that cycle. Sometimes, depending on the size and flow, the insert is actually threaded onto the pin. If so, the mold has to unthread it before the mold can open. Not much fun to make a mold like that. I'd still be curious to see the arm so I can see exactly what they did. Seems like every mold is a new challenge. ...Tiger
I just envision where the inserts would go they micro bored some precision holes and then had a hardened/polished dowel pin pressed in, some kind of robot thing would slide these (Brass?) inserts on just before the mold closes? If that is the case then you "could" run a tap into the hole since it "should" be the exact size it needs to be for threading and it should be good enough. Probably not more than a few ounces of strain on each hole of each arm as far as lift is concerned.

$ one hundred and sixty dollars? You got to be kidding me. Any one of us could have those water jet cut in Medford tomorrow and be selling them for $15.00 and make money at it.
Here is version 4 of my hexacopter. I maidened it today at 5pm in some very strong wind. That was fun.
Thanks. It was a little hairy flying in that wind. From the video you can't really tell, but the airframe was really being slapped around.
