??? ??? ??? ???I would like to know why people put there tiers on backwards? I have seen so many rc car/trucks on youtube and in person that have done this. I don't know why it bothers me but it does. It doesn't help with traction or anything and I don't think it looks cool. So why do they do it?  ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

most race tires don't have a forward or backward.  stock slash tires have better forward bite in the dirt when backwards.  My friend had a back yard dirt track, we both had stock brushed slash and he was convinced he would get better traction reversing the tires.  I called BS, but he was right.    Also, in full scale monster trucks you will notice many times they reverse the chevron tires they use in the rear.

we when we did this ( i no longer run stock tires) it really did give us noticeably more forward bite.  If your running by yourself, it might be hard to notice.  When your running next to a clone, a small change will be noticeable among equal drivers.  And this all depends on the surface.  if your a basher, i would get a set of non-stock basher minded tires, and have fun  8)

interesting...do you think some of the reversing benifits are due to forward tire wear,on used tires?I have turned dirtbike tires, when the forward edges have rounded.

Think of it this way if you take the traction away it gives you more forward grip(better steering). It is more useful than you would think, when I was racing there with my 4X4 Slash I would run my tires that had better bite in the front when the track was dry(which was most of the time) but when the track was wet I would swap left and right sides reversing them giving me the rear grip I needed to keep my steering bias.

The design is geared towards the performance of a tire on a given track surface. It is mainly about traction but there are other aspects behind a design, How well it self cleans(slings mud out of the lugs) It's ability to maintain traction while going through water(puddles not ponds). It is the same basic concepts as full size tires that are put on real cars some manufacturers have determined that making a tire directional improves the traction.

Be careful Austin, Most race tires are directional nowadays.  Take calibers for instance.

wait .. what ? i have not noticed that (directional calibers)  how ?  I have snipers, bow ties, calibers, cityblocks, enduros, megabite, rebar, megagrid,  blockades, tazers, goosebumps.  thats the 11 types of race tires i have, none  of which as i see it are directional.  (unless i'm a writard) I just don't see it.  please elaborate

the sc calibers are not directional but the buggy and truggy versions are they even have a little arrow on the side wall telling the the direction they are supposed to rotate

i'm not a believer till i see it.  amainhobbies still has them listed as non-directional in the caliber sc 2.0    I just don't see them being anything different 8) 8).  i mean really are directional sc tires like cow tipping ?
show me a picture and explain why or where they do this. then, maybe i'll get a set of the "little arrow" tires ::)

    maybe this is a typo

There are some that are not directional but I have seen a lot that are.The question was WHY people put directional tires on backwards?
I can under stand that doing it with the chevron tread tires might act like more of a paddle but the others don't make any sense. There is a reason that engineers get paid a lot to design this things. 8) so you would think that you would get the best traction out of the tire if you put them on the way they are so post to go on. ??? ??? ??? ???

You are right in the fact that engineers design them to be on one way and people do another, this principle also plays out in the question of "why do people take a brand new car and change it all up?"  It's because we as entity are not happy with what was originally in place and make the changes we feel are needed for the improvement required.

I can accept that fact. I am one who makes changes to things that I believe I can do better. 8) ;D 8)
