Hey everybody just wondering what kind of glue you all use to glue tires to wheels? Any input would be great and if I'm posting in the wrong section let me know. Thanks!

Super glue, or RC car tire glue, which is basically super glue.  You can get some good stuff at Mild to Wild in Grants Pass.  They carry BSI brand glues with their own label.

See the Bob Smith Industries (BSI) glues here:

I just used some Losi thin and I really liked it. It dries really fast much like super glue. I used the new proline tire glueing bands as well and it made the whole process painless. Also the glue was dry in minutes and I was able to mount the tires very fast.

Previously I had been using some al's hobbies glue which I am pretty sure is just some BSI IC-2000 and I definitely had some ugly glue jobs with it, also some that separated. I'm sticking with the thin Losi glue.

I'd avoid the regular "super glue" although the r/c tire glues are the same chemical (cyanoacrylite) they're usually thinner and dry quicker. I've always liked the Losi glue (comes in thin and medium) but the last time I got JConcepts glue. It's kinda pricey but I figure I've glued five pairs of tires and still have half a bottle, so it's worth it. Like Bret said, get the big rubber bands too. It helps keep the tire's bead in the wheel for a good bond. Glue all the way around the tire (no gaps) and you should be set!

Thanks for the replies. I was told that the tire glue is the same as regular super glue. I've reglued one pair (2) three times and they keep coming apart. I then tried some gel super glue and it wasn't very good either. But, I'm also still learning. I'll try some of the other stuff out. Thanks

It sounds like your reglueing over bad glue which will not work, toss the wheels for new ones and clean all the old of the tires before doing it again.  Also alot of us use AKA tire glue which seems to hold better and can be bought at Sleads since he carries it in stock.  Be weary of what MTM (mild to wild)has on the shelf since alot of it has been sitting for umpteen years and has soured.

Here's another tip if you were't aware. Always clean the tire and wheel bead with alcohol before you glue them! When the tires are made at the factory the inside of the molds are coated with a release agent that keeps the rubber from sticking to their mold. This same stuff stays on the tire and keeps your glue from sticking to the wheels, too. Get a paper towel wet with 70% isopropyl alcohol and you'll be amazed at how much gunk comes off before you even glue them.

And again, stick with the "real" tire glue. Anything else will leave you disappointed. Been there, done that.
