    The map is showing Internet attacks by country. Countries where attacks are originating and being attacked. DDOS (distributed denial of service) or DOS (denial of service) (wikipedia link) attack means that someone is controlling a lot of computers, usually what they call a botnet (wikipedia link), to create thousands, even millions, of requests on a specific website at the same time. When a website is overloaded with bogus requests it usually becomes unavailable to regular traffic and can crash a website.
