This is some video shot before the Rogue Valley Flyer's airshow rehearsal. It is taken at the Rogue Valley Flyer's airfield in Kerby, Oregon. The Rogue Valley Flyer's airshow takes place in Kerby, Oregon at the Rogue Valley Flyer's airfield on September 8th, 2012. Visit the Rogue Valley Flyer's website for more information at: http://roguevalleyflyers.com/ You can also communicate with many of the Rogue Valley Flyer's via the Southern Oregon RC forums at: http://southernoregonrc.com/
Hey Trevor, it's in Kerby at the old dump site on Kerby Mainline Rd. It is an AMA registered airfield and it is a sanctioned event so you do have to be an AMA member to fly. All slots for the airshow are filled but all spectators are welcome and we always like to see guests at other times who are interested in flying. Hope to see you out there. Here's a link in Google Maps. You can zoom in or out to find the roads and more detail of the area. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=42.215455,-123.624301&hl=en&num=1&t=h&z=15
Well not for the airshow but do I need to be a AMA member to fly there at all, because im not? I'm looking for somewhere else to fly some FPV. Where I am now on AVE G in White City there's alot of aircraft flying near by as well as over head so was looking for a place with less aircraft in the area. Ave G is somewhat right on the flight path for runway 14 at KMFR.
Sorry, but yes. Both our airfields (Kerby and Pottsville) are AMA registered so membership is required at all times. For good areas to fly FPV, I would get together with John (GPS) and pick his brain. He is flying all over the valley and putting up some beautiful videos. AMA membership is only $58/yr. and provides up to $2million insurance to cover you if you should happen to land on someone's kid or fly through their living room window - well worth it IMO! But I understand its not for everyone, just putting it out there
The airfield in Kerby is pretty far and you can't get in without a key which seems to be only available to Rogue Valley Flyers members. The RVF website is pretty sparse on information and it is unclear if membership is $2 per year or $30 for an individual. I guess if they closed the deal for the Pottsville area airfield it will be some time before it is usable and I suppose it will be locked also. The only information I have about that is they were discussing it's usage with the owners, but it seemed to likely be a go.
