Most people would look at that and think "neat, but what a lot of time/stuff no real reason, kind of a waste" But I could see this placed in a nice cabinet, set up with a nice kiosk interface and being sold to Bars, Malls, rented out to weddings, etc. for playing real music at $1.00 per song. Both the visual and audible entertainment would keep kids stuffing money in it for hours on end.
I totally agree. It runs off MIDI so there are huge amounts of songs readily available. The guy who made it needs to make a electric guitar and drummer robot. Talk about a band-in-a-box! I'd feed it dollars too. BTW, a lot of the project was printed on a 3D printer or laser cut.
Since I have a stepper machine I have always wanted to load some G code music into it like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MaGq6zwhUo
Mission Impossible, love it. One of the all time great theme songs. This guys seems to have a program that takes MIDI and turns out G Code:
