what's your intent for it ???
    bashing/waterproof?
    racing/tunability?
    I own a Slash 4x4 "Ultamate"...it's been my experience,when running 3s lipo's, the 3500 Velineon's don't last(mine is on it's 3rd motor)=the good news is Traxxas warranty covers/covered everthing & gave great customer service...SAVE YOUR PROOF OF PURCHASE=and bash on  ;D...
btw Traxxas drivelines/dogbones are CHEESY, but do work, and hold up better than expected,
aaaand their chassis' do fill with dirt -seems to be an ongoing pain in my rear.
all in all a decent value.
BUT- you may want to check out the Traxxas Stampeed VXL Truggy conversion-ADAM built one, and I believe sinistercad is the owner-there are pics floating around on this forum somewhere= ask Sinistercad
don't get me wrong, there is a reason Slashes sell so well-dry running/racing though, you could do better...for me, I think the Stampeed truggy would have been better (just my thoughts though).

I found out that Sledds is going to be moving and Adam over there says they are going to have a  track set up for short course.

yeah=they may run 1/8 scale nitro too.
I would consider trading off my Slash-not much time on the new motor...or the whole car for that matter.

That would be cool. 8) I think I would go with the slash do to cheaper parts and better upgrades. :)

Adam from sledds said that he is going to have a stock slash class, but if I wanted more of a competitive race to get a sc10.

I am sure the sc10 would do good out of the box if you want a racer. The slash can be a good racer it just needs some work to make it that way. so if you want something to race right out of the box then the sc10 would be good but if you want start with something you want to make a racer then go for the slash. :)

That Svt Raptor slash looks really nice, some of the sc10 look good to.

    2wd or 4wd
and, do you have a controler w/ multi model modes already?
...something to consider?...instead of a RTR
...right out of the box, you will want a tire/wheel change=$60.oo

There are good points all here, I hope you remember the conversation we had since that was a better summary of all.

That's the same delema I've been having. I want the sc10 for competitive racing. But I have a feeling that I spend most time jumping it instead of actual racing witch leans me to the slash. Plus it's waterproof right outta the box. I might just have to modify slash to a racer. ???

Well as I explained it to AK, it is much better to put RPM arms and links on an SC10 with a waterproof system then it is trying to make a slash competitive.  You will literally have double the money into a slash to make it competitive and it looses all of it's bashing capability.  The better candidate is either an SC10 or XXX SCT if you can find one.

    This.

Traxxas builds their products to be fun and durable, but that doesn't always equal racing performance. If you want something to race with you would be much better off with an Associated or TLR truck. I've heard the HPI trucks are fairly competitive too, but I have zero experience there.

I own a Slash, and am in agreement w/ everthing said.........Slash's are top heavy
Slash's "Bash" right out of the box
now if it's a "Slash against Slash" racing= that makes it pretty easy...MAYBE??? ??? =lol

HPI trucks fall under the same issue, once you make them race ready there durability goes right out the window.  As per slash box stock racing I honestly love it! But it's hard to keep them stock and we ran into many times that people started modding them and saying they were repairs, so that class died very quickly.

Racing on all scales/types-motorcycles,cars,boats,ect.-some how it becomes a matter of money and sponsorship.=not good for the average "Joe".............Tires, bodies,tuning/adjustments=keeping things real for the budget class-
yeah, I hear you Sinistercad=people are people-on/in every venue..."only guilty if you get caught"=weak

I concur that the stock class is fun and the slash is a basher out of the box. I like to run stock with modded just to see how good I am. 8)
Which isn't that good being out of practice and all.  :(
