I went out on Saturday and ran my Losi xxx-sct on a friends track, it did really good for the first 3hrs then I blew out the ball diff in the tranny. I ordered a new gear diff and transmission housing so I should get them before next track day on Saturday. http://s1283.photobucket.com/user/akbigfoot75/media/S5000786_zps47896e4d.jpg.html?sort=3&o=1 http://s1283.photobucket.com/user/akbigfoot75/media/S5000785_zps915b8cdd.jpg.html?sort=3&o=2
Nice photos. Where is that? Ball differentials are pretty lame. They are temperamental and prone to a high failure rate. They used to be more popular with on-road but now every top manufacturer has a gear differential as stock, or at least as a option. SPEC-R even built up a decent business on gear differentials until the manufacturers realized that was where everyone was going. Trying to use a ball differential in off-road with all the dirt and rapidly changing and harsh conditions is a recipe for failure.
The track is at a friends house out of town. I got my Losi used so it was only a matter of time before the Ball Diff would fail, I got a new Gear Diff ordered.
