Interesting program, but not exactly cheap. It's $230 a year to basically "rent" it. I didn't see any option at all to "buy" it. Just seems a little steep for guys wanting to reach the home 3D printer market. ...Tiger
I also agree and thought the exact same this morning ... yup too expensive, especially for a rental I've notice a recent trend in other applications where by you 'lease' the software for a period of time, think PhotoShop CS offers this option also. ... Although the others of which I'm referring did also offer the option to buy but nevertheless more and more software developers are going the 'rental' route, Meh, I'm just another that don't like the idea of renting!
You're right about that. More and more they want to rent you things so they can feed off you forever. The problem is that they are running out of meaningful things to sell you. Rather than continuing to innovate and bring you new and wonderful products, they want to be lazy and just milk their old products. It's pretty sad really. What I'm worried about is that eventually nobody will be willing to sell. Another thing I hate is everyone pushing the "cloud". That might be good for a few things like dropbox, but doing everything that way totally sucks. It's a hopeless security problem. It will be a cold day in hell when my designs are stored in any "cloud" for everyone to steal. I think the whole industry is in some kind of death spiral. Good thing I'm on the way out. ...Tiger
Again on both the above points I have to agree My favorite photo-editor for example and programs like are so full and bloated to begin with it's getting increasing harder for anyone to find anything new and innovative for their older customers. Sure these new packages are great for new users but not so much for us old folk (haha, punning) ... As the story goes Corel is currently offering a NEW upgrade, X5 to their successful and popular Paintshop Pro X4 which is truly a good product ... but what is actually being sold in X5 as a FULL and supposedly ROBUST set of NEW features, ... is in reality seen as nothing more a simple version revision given how little is actually being given! ... Descriptively speaking X5 looks like v4.0 to v4.1 ... certainly NOT v4.0 to v5.0 Needless to say as 'I VOTE with my $$$$' and I won't be buying nor even recommending ... and all their old and loyal customers is calling em out over the issue ... Going from X3 to X4 was a BIG deal with the amount of changes and in the amount offered people naturally fell in love. In short this upgrade was worth every penny however with this new (X5) so called upgrade is offering so little people are feeling cheated All they gave was two new and useless features which can been done by hand w/ a little effort using a number of menu choices but because they made the 'procedures' one-click function they feel justified in calling the revision an upgrade. All the other changes we're performance enhancing and simple BUG fixes thus X5 might have been better called an X4 'service pack' ... but there's NO money in THAT, ... Seems like they are trying to get users to pay for fixing their buggy software ... We're certainly NOT paying for anything NEW and innovative !!! /end rant [acronym=EYE See!
