Many still and video photographers (myself included) are miffed at the 'convergence' of video into their beloved DSLRs. ... Following opinion piece voices what allot of photographers are feeling. An Appeal for Divergence and Simplicity QUOTE: "While I welcome the possibility of shooting video and stills from a smart phone or other small devices, and while I can certainly understand that certain segments of the market such as wedding photographers like to shoot video and stills with the same device, there are huge numbers of serious videographers and serious still photographers who would much prefer equipment designed to shoot either still or video, but not both. These large segments of the market would be much happier and much better served with divergence, not convergence." LMAO, yes, I thought of you Golden Child after reading. ... I remember you saying (rather strongly) you didn't like the path Cannon was taking with respects to their latest and greatest DSLRs ... Granted, fans of video 'convergence' are liable to different thinking ... but consider Blackmagic's Pocket Cinema Camera which doesn't even offer the ability to take still pictures. Although it looks very much like the newest line of still/video cameras that have come out recently it implys Blackmagic aren't committed to spending resources and supporting a feature nobody wants in a pro-video camera. ~w00d...
