This is in HD so play it in full screen. Looks expensive! http://hackaday.com/2011/10/12/sweet-octocopter-takes-the-red-epic-to-new-heights/ ...Tiger
That's pretty cool! Gyro-stabilized camera platform for people without budgets Now where did I leave that $40k camera of mine???
You're going to need two things to fly that baby. A LOT of trust in your vehicle and a LOT of trust in your pilot. OK, maybe you could get away without those two things if you had some REALLY GOOD insurance. The RED cameras are really cool. I've followed them for a while. If I had bottomless pockets of money I'd get one. http://www.red.com/
After reading up on this Octacopter (http://www.omstudios.de/#2126063/OM-Copter-gives-wings-to-the-RED-epic) I come to the conclusion they were not aware of the AscTec Falcon 8. If you look at the design they built (and it looks like a prototype) there is more opportunity for the propellers to cause flicker and/or shadows, especially for a camera like the Red Epic.
