I've always wanted to try this and I think it would be something fun for my family to be involved in but it seems like there is some tracks around, but is there an active club and races/events as well? It looks like one clubs website is gone and not sure of any others.  I know it would fun just playing with the car but I think having a club with other families enjoying it as well could really make it a lot more fun and a long lasting hobby.  Thanks for any input

well as far as clubs go I dont think theres any! But there is alot of us that meet up on weekends to just bash (jumps and play rough together) and run like trail runs with crawlers and such! I know sledds adventure is moving in a couple of months and will have a big indoor off road track! You can always check the calender or just post that you wanted to go play and alot of the guys if there free will jump on the chance to meet someone new and to go have fun! Its always more fun to have with a group than by yourself! Also tell us what you got so we know what kind of fun to have weather it being off road or on road alot of us have all different kinds of rigs to have fun with!

Welcome to the forum!  There are many outlets for going out and having fun around here.  At the moment the largest group is either the crawler guys which also have SC trucks which last weekend was about ten of us just goofing off and having a good time.  As for sanctioned racing you only have a few options at the moment until the weather clears up a bit more.  First on is Cottage Grove RC which holds races bi-weekly and is open every Saturday for practice.  The next is rattlesnake raceway in redding California which holds races on the opposite weekend of CGRC.  As per clubs, it has been tried many times, the largest problem being that most want to be the chief or would like something done there way without anyone's input.  This does not work.  We are all big kids playing with toy cars and this seems to get lost in most peoples mind unfortunately.  There will also be the Jacksonville track that will be opening soon and I will start sign ups and as long as we are looking at 15 or more entries per race weekend I will have it open Bi-weekly, if not it is hard to justify the time/effort/COST of keeping it open non-stop.  Adam at Sleads will also be opening a track soon, but I feel he will miss the buy in for summer but I'm sure it will make an excellent winter covered spot!  Hope this helps and please ask away if you have any questions.

Good info SinCad, but you missed Klamath Falls. They have an outdoor off-road track and a structured club. It's a great group of guys who are in it for the fun of it and there's always a decent turnout and great racing out there. You can get ahold of their club president, Steve here on this forum. His username is Steve 40

There's quite a few photos of racing from last year out at the Klamath Falls track if you dig around in the off-road forum here. Welcome to the board, Bigcase!

Great info thank you for sharing, looks like something I am going to try in the near future.  I have done some reading etc, about cars and I know there's always a debate on a good car and the thousand variables of what you can do.. But I am looking and getting an SC10 4x4.  Is this something decent I can build on as I learn the sport etc?  Thanks again for the feedback it's very helpful

The SC10 4x4 is a great truck for racing.  It is however unique in it's design and many people complain about common repair times being 2-3 times longer than some of the other 4x4 sc's out there.  They are more suited for indoor racing and are not as easy to setup for larger/rougher tracks.  I am currently in the market for a 4x4 SC as well.  Most of the guys around here run the Losi SCT-E because it's a good truck that is easy to work on and has great parts support.  It's a great race truck and it works well on the larger 8th scale tracks like Jacksonville and Rattlesnake Raceway.  There is also the Ofna Hyper 10sc and the new Tekno SCT410.

Means 2k has the basic idea for sure. Best thing I can say is the sc10 is best suited for indoor very smooth tracks which there are basically none of arou d here. I would also suggest the scte over the hyper since it is really outdated technology. The tekno sc410 is also good bit better suited again to a smoother track surface. For bumpy rough stuff there is really none better the scte, and it holds its own when setup for smooth tracks. So it really is the better car, hence the reason it is really the go to car as of late.

Yreka also has a smaller indoor track, and when the weather gets a little better, a nice size outdoor track.  Losi scte is a great platform!!! I actually have a roling chassis if anyone is looking...... $200

It still will not be a competitive truck though. Don't get me wrong, I have two and there great bashers! But race trucks they are not by any stretch.

Thanks for the help, I think I will be looking at the Losi Scte, I want a car that is a good overall car and this seems to fit the bill.  If you have any suggestions on good websites for rc cars and accessories please let me know.  I know there's RC addition and Al's but I haven't checked there yet.

Your best bet for online purchase is www.horizonhobby.com  Or you can call sleads downtown since he usually carries an SCTE.  There number is 541-226-9494

If your interested in a roller losi scte, I have one with rpm arms and bumpers and aftermarket tires, for $200. Normally they are around $300 shipped. But if your just getting into the hobby, maybe a RTR would be a better choice.

KYOSHO is for the racer who doesn't mind mid-season revisions/changes/discontinued parts...been there: (very expensive lesson learned).
Do yourself a HUGE  favor, and go talk to Adam at Sledd's in Grants Pass. He's a very nice, humble man that won't talk over your head-just clearly lay out your options.
              BTW-if asked, I would suggest an "RTR"- ready to run also.....(brushless electric-w/ 2.4g radio/reciever)
.............Check Horizon Hobbies and Tower Hobbies for Pricing.

BOTTOM LINE THOUGH=ADAM IS THE MAN!..............totally supporting that mans efforts

I'm guessing no one caught my sarcasm about them not making a 4wd sc?  Kyosho is always on top but they are always the first to break and usually the most expensive.
