So i got a new servo for my firestorm. Losi LOSB0812 Metal gear, digital, BB, .18 sec 144oz/in @ 6V,  ( new take off $18 on ebay) ;D
Anyway. I am running this same servo on my other rigs with no issues.
The firestorm has the Flux MOTIV ESC 5700kv brushless system on it (made by castle)
I am running the $8 RX from hobby parts (gt3b?) same as my other rigs with a 1000 Farad capacitor.
So when i have the car turned on and start turning the wheel back and forth wheels Left/right, it works fine for a few times then it basically fail safes and does not respond to anything and the esc Just beeps it fault beep.
once i have the car up and running it seems to work fine without cutting out.. but when i park it and move the steering only, it does it.
Any ideas why this is? the BEC of the ESC?
    thanks.

Sounds like the BEC is heating up.  That would be my first guess.  Why don't you put a voltmeter on one of the other receiver outputs (or wherever you can get the voltage) and then do your trick to see if the voltage falls off when it stops working.  There would be less drag on the servo when it's moving, which might be why it works then.  If what we're guessing is true, then you should also be able to keep it working with the wheels in the air (no drag).  Are you sure you don't have something dragging or binding in the steering?

thanks for the response.. i think i figured it out though.  ::)
I swapped the 1000 farad capacitor with a larger capacitor (some folks call it a clitch buster) i had on my other truck. It is the 7000something farad capacitor from Spektrum. It seems my other ESC (losi excelorin) kicks out plenty of volts for the BEC and so it is uneffected by me removing the capacitor/glitch buster with the same servo.  I put the larger capacitor on the firestorm and no more issues.  In fact it may have sped it up the servo a little as well. I guess there must have been a mommentary cut in the voltage from the servo power draw causing the fail safe to kick on. Not enough volts coming from the BEC i guess..  (would have expected more from castle creations  ???)
anyway.. all is good. i just swaped capacitors/glitch busters.
    rock n roll

    Thanks

Great!  All is well that ends well.  BTW... Those are "micro farads" (not "farads").  That means 7000 "farads" would be 1,000,000 times as bigger than 7000 microfarads!  You might have trouble fitting that into anything smaller than a Grayhound Bus. :)  Glad you got it working.

Riiiiiiiiiiiight... Miiiiiicroooo Farads...  ;D doh!Yes i remember now.. thanks for the correction, and your help and suggestions.
glad it was an easy fix, just kind of surprised it was needed given the equipment installed.
just glad all is working.  :)
    thanx,
