NEW Castle LINK Software Update: ... ... Current Castle LINK version: 3.41.1 - Release Date: 07-01-11 Maybe OLD news to some, maybe NEW news to a few but certainly NEW if a LINK user hasn't upgraded in a long time. The latter being where I fall into it as hadn't done an update for quite some time. In any case your current LINK Software should have informed a new package is now available! LINKAGE to the Castle Link upgrade page ---> HERE For any future upgrades could also use this thread to POST the NEWS as to when a newer version is available
Castle Creations Castle Link is one of, if not the best, pieces of software for electric RC ESC controllers. The only thing that could make it better is making it Bluetooth enabled and publish Android and IOS apps so we can tweak the ESC settings in the field without a computer.
Don't ya mean "hardware/software" for electronic RC ESC's ... Yes I know I'm JUST being too picky picky w00d, just messin with ya cus I can {LOL} but I do agree they could offer support for the hand-held's. Although NOT as elegant has an iPod or the Andriod solution they do offer a Field Programmer in the form of their ---> Field LINK which gets the J.o.B done EDIT: What I would like to see is a form of "standardization" a ONE-Fits-All type of programmer ... Yes "they" would ALL have to get together and sit'n think it through to make it happen. But ONE one programmer where we could go to ANY ESC and program it no matter which make and model we need to program. Now THAT would be a sweet deal, yeah !?!
Agree. Nothing fragments the market better than a dozen or so proprietary interfaces and programming protocols.
... but manufactures being what they are I'm sure the idea is destined to be nothing more than "wishware"
Also agree. Nothing better in their mind than brand lock-in. It's the same situation in transmitters and receivers. Want to change from Futaba to Spektrum (or vice versa) and if you have any number of models you're facing a pretty big cash outlay to reequip your models with compatible receivers. Although it would be cool if all speed controllers had a unified interface, say for example a web browser. That would be a step in the right direction and also allow third parties to create "Apps" that could talk to the unified interface. <--- end dream --->
Yup since the "miracle" of 2.4g were TRAPPED into ONE manufacture or the OTHER ... Although Futaba would have us locked into their radio equipment with their support of Spektrum. Well it's a step, yup it could be said a STEP in the RIGHT direction but it's not a BIG step which I'm sure anyone would agree. Absolutely the inclusion of third parties would be sweet but we all know and I hear you saying it also it's not in "their" interest! Money-is-Money and that's the BOTTOM LINE with these buggers. Meh, the only way to DEAL with em (to GET what WE want) is to DEAL with em on their level and that's to VOTE w/ our Dollars. Yeah !?! {LOL} <--- LET the DREAM Continue --->
We need to design our own transmitter and create a open source electronics system that can fit into a variety of enclosures like one for aircraft and one for surface. Maybe the electronics is like a module that plugs into the mechanics on the controller I.E. Sticks for aircraft or trigger and wheel for surface.
