so i am looking at bushless systems and i was wondering if any of you have heard of a brand call leopard or ez run? and what the deal with some of the esc have fans and others donot have fan. would i want one with or without a fan?
I haven't heard of either of those brands, personally. The big names in ESCs are Tekin, Novak, Castle and Orion. A lot of people like Castle because it's a good system for not too much money. I've personally always run Novak, but that's nothing more than brand loyalty. Some ESCs have fans to keep them cooler. It isn't necessary, but some people like the extra security of running a fan. I've never run a fan on any one I've ever had but that's mostly because I only race off-road and I don't want to clog a fan up with dirt. Don't worry to much about the fan. My ESC came with one and I never bothered to hook it up.
i hav heard of them, and while i do not have first hand experience with those particualr brands, i do know personally of folks who have purchased the EZrun hobbywing escs and Tacon motors with great reliable results. i think they are a great option for someone on a budget and want to go brushless. Check Ultimate RC for some objective video reviews. i am runnin a hobby king setups in one of my rigs, which in my mind is one step down compared to the systems you mentioned and it has been working really great. a fan i think is a must have esp. if runnin lipo. if you don't get one factory you can always add one latter. most esc have a jst plug for the fan add on.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjlGFadQz-o
