This is pretty cool. I've never tried out Mint, but my guess it's that it's just like "old-school" Ubuntu with a green coat of paint.

It's nice to see hardware manufacturers backing up the Linux crowd. It's becoming more and more popular (especially with Android dominating the smartphone market) and it looks like the hardware vendors are noticing that. More Linux machines means more public use, which means better device support for us!

On a slightly unrelated note have you seen the video of Linus Torvalds giving Nvidia the middle finger?

I've used Mint and it is pretty nice.  Some of that standard packages make it attractive, more so if you don't care for the Unity interface.

LOL - I saw when Linus did that.  I wonder what was really on his mind.  ;)

I hated Unity at first, but I've come to appreciate it. The new HUD in Precise 12.04 is pretty handy sometimes. My biggest gripe about Unity is that I don't like the Global Menu Bar. I uninstalled it a few months ago, but then realized the HUD wouldn't function without it installed. Grrr.

I'm using Unity on my laptop and it's OK.  The screen is small so I don't have too many windows open at the same time anyway.
