OK, so as most of you know I am a pilot. I have over 40 aircraft in various stages of completion - RTF to a bundle of toothpicks I am looking to free up some space to complete a few of the projects that I am keeping. I have planes, a quad, two boats, several radios, and a LOT of parts (motors, esc's, servos, Lipo's, hardware, etc.) I'll try to get some pics up later but in the meantime if you have any questions just give me a buzz! If someone's interested in it then yes. I've had it a LONG time and haven't had the ambition to finish it. I wanted to do the Reaper as a camera platform, but our multirotors are much better suited to the task. If no one buys it I won't be heartbroken as it really is a fun project, but I've got to make space for more important projects (my Scorpion for one!). I'm going to keep a few of the parkflyers to take out to Redwood, but I am going to start building/flying some bigger planes - 33% and bigger. Planes that use 30cc gas engines and bigger. Working down in White City puts me closer to the Rogue Eagles flying field which is bigger than Kerby and with Pottsville coming to fruition in the near future it just seems time to make the plunge to large scale.
Are the large scale you are talking about as big as the planes those guys who came late to the Rogue Valley Flyers air show? Is the Rogue Eagles airfield the one that Trevor, Pelagic Pilot and I flew at last year?
Yes, I'm going to have a go at the same size planes that Mark and Steve(?) flew at the air show last year. I've gotten pretty good at basic 3D maneuvers but need a bigger plane to advance my flying skills. As for your second question, I'm not sure where you guys flew last year but the Rogue Eagles' flying field is adjacent to Agate Lake in White City on East Antelope Rd.
Wow, those planes are huge! Do you already have one or a kit? I think they called the street Avenue G. I remember there is a municipal airport off to the left. Here is one of the videos I shot there:
That place is like the Redwood School of White City. Just a bunch of guys that get together to fly. I see them out there most Fridays, sometimes on other days as well.
What is the address of the field you mean? Or do you have a Google map? You didn't mention if you already have a large scale plane or kit...
https://maps.google.com/maps?q=42.420415,-122.767367&hl=en&num=1&t=h&z=15 I don't have any large planes yet. Got my eye on several... http://www.amr-rc.com/index.php?path=content&SC=produits&SUBSC=aircraft&page=kits_info&produit_id=1654&marque=&langue=en http://www.amr-rc.com/index.php?path=content&SC=produits&SUBSC=aircraft&page=kits_info&produit_id=1661&marque=&langue=en http://www.amr-rc.com/index.php?path=content&SC=produits&SUBSC=aircraft&page=kits_info&produit_id=1712&marque=&langue=en http://www.amr-rc.com/index.php?path=content&SC=produits&SUBSC=aircraft&page=kits_info&produit_id=1699&marque=&langue=en Those are just to start. After getting comfortable with the 30cc-50cc size, I'll step up to the 100cc-120cc size. But that will likely be a two to three year progression. Anyway, I figure I can get one complete plane, engine, etc. for right around $1500 RTF.
I like the second and third the most even they both look kind of the same to me. Can you tell me why most of these planes have fixed landing gear? I think it takes away from the good looks.
These are scale models of actual aerobatic stunt planes. The full-size planes don't use retracts because it adds a tremendous amount of weight to the airframe and that would diminish the planes' ability to perform stunts. These models are just keeping their designs to scale.
nqd would be cool...just broke
Haha, I know the feeling! These are the boats that Highlandcrawler and I did the brushless conversions to. They are stupid fun and provide hours of entertainment.
