I'm in the middle of a two day run injection molding MXL timing pulleys for Futaba servos.  I just found out where they are going.  Watch the video on the link below.  Then watch some of the videos you can click on on that page.  This is without a doubt the most spectacular photographic work I've ever seen.  I think I finally understand why the photo geeks are so excited about our multirotor platforms.  This just blows me away.  This is absolutely amazing!

Update: Be sure you watch "CineStar 8 flies the RED EPIC".  Almost all of it shows the multirotor.  Oh man - This is exciting!

John - I think you need to buy a Red Epic camera.

PP was at indoor flying tonight and said they cost something like 35K.  I've decided to stick with my brownie.  Here is the video you should have linked.

{hehe} Remember back in the day being invited to your buddies and his family for a night of 8mm movie viewing. Wasn't that the most agonizing where NO amount of complimentary BEER would DULL the pain {LOL} Then came more when he bought one of the new Video Cams out and he spent days and weeks transferring all that 8mm stuff onto Video. Then it was back to their house to suffer it ALL again. Times and equipment have changed but not so much the people making the stuff ... Good the BEER still taste great!

I agree one of the reasons the Multi-Rotor or the popularity of Multi-Rotor Aircraft are for their use has photographic platforms, for Aerial Photography (AP). Big money is spent on the aircraft and more importantly on the camera although allot of the time little attention is also paid to ensuring a quality camera. However having and owning the "best" equipment is no guarantee the quality of the photos/video will also be the "best" nor be of interest nor likable nor entertaining for the people who (have to) view them

"the brush don't make the artist" it's the artist or artistry of the photographer that makes the photo/video, it's the man!

Sure "because he owns the best guitar in the world don't mean he can play an note". Judging by most of what can be seen and even if they had an important message their video's could be so DULL that any message they might have had may simply be lost. Allot, too many IMO need to work on their video making skills, they need to make the video's entertaining and FUN but certainly NOT dull. I'm NO exception or NO expert by any means myself but knowing is half the battle thus {LMAO} I try and I try and I try and I'm still looking for "The Spielberg School of FINE Movie Making"

May sound contradictory but 35K  [IMG]  for a camera is not not so bad if one knows how to use their camera and their skills to the fullest potential

Unfortunately for myself and the moment I still don't have a computer that can do HD well so I'm missing out on allot of whats being posted. [IMG]  Well that's my 2¢ and it wasn't in the agenda to offend so my apologies if I did. Also nothing I have said here would suggest the above video in this league. In fact it was the quality of the above that made me think of all the crap [/RANT]

I do agree with you Wood, just because you hand someone the best camera ever made does not mean that they will instantly be the best photograph taker there ever was. but have to also add my dis-like for the saying "A poor craftsman blames his tools". If you take the most skilled machinest there ever was, give him a block of aluminum, and then hand him a tree branch, a banana that has been in the sun too long, a rock, and a broken computer hard drive for the only tools that he can use to produce a high precision part, then I bet the tool blaming when the part fails will be sure to follow.

Also I think the Red camera is a bit mis-understood. This line of cameras was intended for real movie production, like "Titanic" and others like it. If someone has one on a multicopter then they are either rich, or using it for work. And of the three models available I mixed up the price tag a bit, the real cost for the starter package of an Epic is $58,000.00 the other models are a bit less.

Airstar built a custom helicopter to fly the Red for an upcoming movie called "Hirokin" it is not out yet, but looking forward to it. Here is the helicopters first flight with the red attached:

And here is the trailer for the movie, I think the scenes where the guy is walking in the sand was shot from the RC Helicopter:

Kinda crazy flying that huge thing with $$$ attached to it in the dark in a parking lot!

hehe, I came from a family of "technically" minded ...

... Grandfather was an OLD School (obviously) Machinist, and DAD who passed not too long ago was a Mechanic for most of his time ... And yeah I would often hear Dad saying "It's a POOR workman who blames his tools" and in my time I've heard so many use as an excuse for their "POOR" workmanship, {LOL} "Oh NO it could possibly be me that's the problem" or they would say "If only I had [insert some tool or whats-it here] it would be better", errrrrr NO. All we have to do is look to the works of teh past where they made do with what they had. Imagine the work out of Michael Angelo if he had access to some of today's tools, if only he had access to CNC ...

Saw this movie tonight, not my kind of movie, but not bad. Saw a few scenes shot with the helicopter.

Just a DVD from video world. There was only about 45 seconds of video shot from the RC, but it was obvious.
