I had a friend who owed me money and I let him trade me a project rc truck! It is a Frankenstein meaning mostly a traxxas stampede and some slash? It has an electric motor mount (was gas)! From what I can tell it needs receiver, battery, esc., body and wheels!!! My biggest question is? Will this be worth fixing or would I be better off buying a stampede and use what I have for parts? Everything that I do have right now is in really good shape!!! If any one can help me it will be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks so much!!!
Wow I hope he didn't owe ya much. In reply to your question you can probably buy a stampede used for aprox what it will take to fix the one you got the last pede I bought I think I payed 75.00 for it last year good luck
Welcome to the Southern Oregon RC forums! If it didn't have any motor or electronics you might just use it for spares on another truck. Check the for sale section and try posting in the wanted section. If you're new to thee hobby you might do well with a Traxxas Slash since you can get spare parts everywhere and they are pretty durable. If you have intentions to race competitively you might look at getting a Team Associated (link) or Losi (stock Losi link) (Team Losi link) brand truck in the class you'd like to compete in, 2WD Short Course, 4WD Short Course, 2WD Buggy or 4WD Buggy, etc..
Id say get a new one. And use this one for parts. Even rollers come with wheels and a servo. To get this truck going its gonna be about 200. My short course tires are 80 buck rounding up. Not including tire glue. Then u need a radio/receiver, possiblly bearings, batteries rang from 20 to 100+ youll need a charger. I think your guy should owe u more now that u have a money pit. Welcome to the addiction.
And that's assuming it doesn't have some other issues that your not aware of. On top of that it's a nitro elec conversion that's pieced together from to very different model of trucks sounds like you better get you a bottle of aspirin
Hey 1raiderluv, don't let us discourage you from your project truck. Anything can be done on a big budget, but also on a small budget if you have some tool skills and keeping your eye out for other guys wanting to get rid of or trade some of their stuff. Tell us more of what you want to do and what your expectations are with your new RC truck.
Like GPS said don't let use rain on your parade. Tell us what you're expectations are also what would you rate your RC exp at 1-10 with 10 being expert
