so i picked up an axial scx10 dingo that i was told had been upgraded and turned into a hancho.. i really just want it to go back to stock so i can make it look like my 89 full size bronco.. from what iv kinda learned is that all he did was ad links to it to make the wheel base longer, but i do not no enough about this truck to put it back to stock.. i spoke to a guy on the phone that was looking to but an scx10 and he told me to come here and seek the help of highlandcrawler. thanks guys
Welcome to the Southern Oregon RC forums! Highlandcrawler and Crawlerbubba are some of the most active and knowledgeable rock crawler people on here. I'm sure they would be glad to help. One thing I would do is download the manual from Axial's website if you don't already have it. Their manuals have some pretty good exploded views and part numbers that will help you identify what is on your truck. You can also download the manuals from the other models that you think some of the parts belong to. The Axial,Racing website is here: http://www.axialracing.com/ Good Luck!
It is hard to tell exactly what was done to it and changed without seeing it. If he just adjusted the wheelbase it would be an easy fix with just some new links. Are you looking to keep the Dingo body or swapping it out for a Bronco body? If you are changing the body I would get the new body and get it mounted first. Then adjust the wheelbase to fit perfect into the wheel wells of it. It is a tiny bit more work than just putting then stock links back on but you will end up with a truck that looks like it was meant to go together and not like you just tossed a body on a frame and went with it. If you would like some advice or a hand with it I would be more than glad to help you out. I am currently trapped in the hospital over in medford but I will look back in and be checking my messages regularly. Feel free to pm me also ;D
Bad news :-\ We live in Oregon. We crawl in on and around water all year. Wish you could have seen some of the action from the last comp. A little water (or a lot in my case) is all part of the game. We will set up gates specifically to place your tires in the water to make it harder to pass said gate. Its the full dunking you gotta watch out for. Even at that 99+% of dunkings always dry back out and are just fine. Your radio on the other hand is at some pretty good risk in the rain. I would avoid getting water on any computer radio.
Agree. It's for this purpose I purchased a couple G-Made chassis from Crawlerbubba a while back. We intend to dedicate those for use outside and make them waterproof. I was referring to the crawlers we have now which are used in the house.
ok here's the big picture.. with the new body on it it looks like shortening the wheelbase an inch will make it work.. but now iv noticed the front sits higher then the rear,so i put the stock shocks on it but there is not enough travel anymore(i dont know why) also here are some pics of what this guy did to it before i got it.. along with all the extra parts i have for it. also the steering servo is now on the frame which causes the steering to SUCK due to it moving the frame more then the front tires.. if i cant fix this and make it work.... maybe one of you guys would wanna buy it with all the extra parts and bodies, for the amount it will cost me to go buy a stock bottom of the barrel scx10 dingo.
It looks to me like you've got everything you need there to make that crawler work well plus enough parts to hop it up or repair any future breakage. Moving the steering servo to the front axle would be pretty easy and it looks like you have some, if not all, the parts needed.
Hey man, i know the kid that crawler came from. I may be coming to medford tomorrow. If you would like, i could pick it up from you and get it all back together and working properly for a small fee. We talked a week or so ago. Im the guy that told you about the forum and highland crawler. But he is currently dealing with a new baby. So his time is a little tied up. My number is 541-761-7957
