Ahh, more drone sensationalism. Tyson was telling me about a real estate company that got slapped for using aerial video and when I saw that link it of course didn't work. That seems to be often on Hackaday. So what I understand about aerial video and real estate is you can have it, but you can't pay for it. So I guess if I sell a real estate company a potato chip and include a free aerial video with each potato chip everything should be ok.
But you can't possess any aerial video of a potato chip. Big trouble if you get caught with that at a border crossing.
No no, aerial video of potato chips is exempt under article 86.1a. It's the nachos that you've got to watch out for at the border.
I bet the Feds will be bustin' down my door for this one, I might need a place to stay for a while http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-P86D4trMU&hd=1
Bwaa ha ha ha! I tip my hat to you Sir! ;D You do know that Lays potato chips have nano technology sprinkled on as "salt" don't you? BTW: Do you intend to sell that footage to a real estate company?
That's not dirt, that's seasoning. All fun aside, there was a reference in the original Hackaday link to a L.A. Times article about a police crackdown on a real estate company who paid for aerial video of their home listings. That link was broken and when I searched the L.A. Times I could not find a match. Tyson had also mentioned something similar, if not exactly that case, to me once but I have not found it. If one of you have a link could you please post it?
Here is the sUAS story on it, there were other links but don't know where those are now: http://www.suasnews.com/2012/01/11474/lapd-warning-against-hiring-unmanned-aircraft-operators-for-aerial-photography/
Thanks for that link. LA will do anything for a buck, especially now that they are bankrupt. I doubt anyone would have the same problem in Oregon at this stage. That is subject to change if and when the FAA actually does anything about the rules.
