Actually, somebody at Adobe made a big mistake. It was never intended to be free, but was accidentally released for free. According to a clarification by Adobe, courtesy of OMG! Ubuntu!

CS2 is (conveniently) the only version that gets a gold rating for running via Wine. 8) I have it installed via Wine and it works as expected.
Nope. Never really had much need for video editing. Although I am interested in LightWorks for Linux. LightWorks is an extremely powerful non-linear video editor that has been used to produce lots of professional Hollywood movies. A public alpha release is available now (as of today, actually!). But, now that I have a that nifty new Canon DSLR I might be shooting some video...
Funny you mentioned the Lightworks Alpha. It's still a closed Alpha and I tried to get in today but missed the window by 18 minutes. The public Beta is expected to be opened before the end of the first quarter 2013.
I have another FREE Download to ADD to this thread, ... but I don't know how useful ... The original, v1.o Photoshop, released at the beginning of 80's, whoops sorry that was the 90's For download - Click HERE Story Here: Computer History Museum shares original Adobe Photoshop source code - www.dpreview.com [acronym=EYE See! Wow. Pretty soon somebody is going to port this source code over to iOS and people will be using Photoshop 1.0 to post photos of their lunch online... :
