Ok guys here's another probably dumb question but here goes.  Got the quad together and flying somewhat decent, now I would like to get an FPV setup so that I can sit in a nice comfy chair and fly my quad  8)  Here is one I found on ebay that says it has a 4km range or about 2 miles.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/RC-5-8GHz-720P-HD-Camera-AIO-Goggles-FPV-System-4KM-/120763225736?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c1e0c9688  Is this ok?  Is there better systems or same systems for a better price?  Also what is needed to get a GPS hold on this thing or stabilize it?  I have seen the NAZA units but there around $1K!!!  yeah my fingers can do some work for that kind of money.  Any help is appreciated and all the help I've gotten so far has been great!  Thanks again!

    REALLY QUICK

Well theres GPS in GP, he has a Hexacopter with Return to home, stabilization, Camera but not TX or RX. Then theres Pelagic Pilot in GP, he has a Blade 450 Heli, with Stabilization, GoPro, 910 Mhz TX/RX, Monitor. Im in Medford and I have a Skywalker 1900, with EagleTree stuff in it (GPS, OSD, Datalogging, Altimeter, Airspeed), LRS, 910 Mhz TX/RX, Gopro, Little camera, Monitor, Antenna Tracking, and DVR. Feel free to try and meet up with any of us as im sure we would be more than willing to speak with you or show you what we have.

Ok so freq the lower the freq the bigger the antennas will be as well as in theory the signal should travel farther. I WOULDNT get 2.4 because alot of your newer TX are on 2.4 and might mess you up or them.  Theres different kind of Antennas here check out this video. http://vimeo.com/8826952  Seems like maybe freq is based on if you have problems on one then you use a different one. Ok so if you have interference on one freq then in that area you would want to use another freq instead. Seems like the older generations dont really care for goggles but the younger ones do. I do like the monitor as it will give a chance for others to watch as well but you need a box or something that wont let in the light. Goggles wont let in the light well... good ones shouldnt. I know of one guy that spend $10 on a backup monitor that would go into an RV and put it on the front of a bike helmet, he really likes that. I would start slow and learn to fly first then start adding things. If you go to fast your going to spend more than you have to because things arnt working. If you go slow you can work out the bugs as they come, you cant just throw the puzzle on the table and expect it to work you need to take your time and figure out what you want to do and what works for you and put each piece together untill you have molded what you want and KEY thing IT WORKS in the end. Dont get anything from China as there QC isnt very good. I wasted money on a TX from hobbyking that maybe never worked anyways. I was able to get a new video TX from ReadymadeRC and it works great.

Yes to everything Trevor said. I know other people who bought Hobby King fpv stuff and it did not work right out of the mail box. I dont trust the stuff. I have hobby wireless 900mhz and it works good. I have started using a patch and it works further away than i am willing to fly. Keep in mind that there is no point in more range than what your RC radio will do. If you are on 2.4 then 3000 feet is about it with no means of RTH. If you do have RTH then in the right conditions 2.4 could go 3 miles sometimes.

OK thank you for the input so far.  As for flying concerns I believe I am a fairly inept pilot, I have scared more people with my flight skills than I can count on my fingers   So which system would you go with?  I am not worried about transmitter interference since that can be easily remedied.  I found this system on Hobbywireless that looks great and is better priced than what I was looking at before. http://hobbywireless.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=137:2279b547d915a1c6c9f1102516af66ce

maybe the fatshark vs that red one but again you might not like goggles but on the other hand I have never tried them but want to though. With a screen it is nice to be able to just look away and look for your plane vs waiting for your eyes to adjust to the light and then look for your plane.

That is a nice looking kit. Although it does not come with a camera for that price. I have bought two of the SN555 units and love them. None of us here have used goggles, so other than what has been seen online we dont know what to expect. Some people can not use them, they puke after a few minutes. The 1.2 will work just fine. The KK2 has self leveling but no GPS so it wont stay there. The NAZA can have it all, but $$$. Self leveling is all i really need to fpv, but after seeing Trevor's OSD altimeter in action it was added to my must have list for next year. Guessing how high you are is the hardest thing. You "should" try to become a good pilot before FPV. It is not all that hard, but FPV for the first is waaay different that what you think it will be. Very disorienting and so easy to get lost, sideways, upside down, then after a few seconds you feel disconnected from the aircraft and have an uncontrollable urge to look up at it, but you have no idea where to look for it and it crashes while you have question marks floating above your head.

Oh and if you decide on a tv instead, dont get a 7" get something between 10" and 21". The 7" kinda sucks after I switched from my laptop screen to a tiny tv.
