I had me a 10 year old boy with his dad for a visit Sunday I was pretty cool watching his wide eye's as he moved from one helicopter to to next. Then the real excitement came when I powered up my GAUI ep255 for a demo flight ... Best part came when he asked his Dad for one with School ending for the summer and Dad saying "we shall see if your marks are good I'll buy you one of the little helicopters" ... Dad was talking about my Blade mSR and TRex 100 Then you should have seen the little one when I showed him my Baja I had hiding under a dust sheet ... That's when DAD said "time to go" ... Pretty funny the little guy asking and DAD asking how much they cost! [insert evil grin here] LOL ... well lets add another littler flyer to the club Was a great Sunday, yeah? too cool! my 6 yr old is into cars& trucks.and if he gets good grades he gets his first one! good job wood!
I've always wanted to try my hand at helicopters, but I've never known where to start. Plus, I'm afraid of plummeting to Earth at 10,000MPH and breaking every strut, servo and blade on the way down. They sure do look cool, though! Grats on getting a little guy interested in the hobby. I felt the same way when I sparked the attention of a girl with Down's Syndrome that lives down the street from me. I was cruising my Revo around the school parking lot and she loved it. I found out months later that her grandmother bought her a "toy" r/c car for Christmas just because she loved mine so much.
Hi Nexus LOL Toss a Dart ... Worked well enough for me. Really I think I got lucky and the first helicopter I discovered was my TRex 450 ... ... I knew intuitively it was the helicopter for me, it's was only later I found it was a well known helicopter, the rest is history! Jokin aside opinions will differ and for any number of people w/ an opinion I'd bet "dollars to donuts" each opinion will be different. Peeps WILL say "get this and get that" and "do this and do that" and "you must dance the Hokey Pokey to be COOL" ... ... Meh, personally I would say "Simply find a helicopter YOU like and LEARN IT" the END Yes, that to is only my opinion thus as gruff has I might sound I really MUST respect the opinions of others! Also I tend to or at least try to shy away from making actual recommendations but I've been known to toss a few out. To paraphrase Finless Bob of Helifreak.com "I'm not here to TELL you WHAT to BUY, I'm only here to HELP you with waht you bought" which I thought was excellent words of wisdom, yeah? When calculating the costs or the cost of the helicopter also factor in the cost of crashing as you would batteries and/or other consumables [quote author=Nexus link=topic=1309.msg9140#msg9140 date=1338595941]Grats on getting a little guy interested in the hobby.
