Yes, certainly they do hire professionals. Allot of Pro-Photographers from National Geographic gets themselves covered in good detail on the photo news/blogs. In fact depending on the story they might want teams of people, so getting 'the story' can cost BIG money ... Needed are all kinds of 'professional' to from photographers, videographers, even audio engineers, ... to transportation, aircraft of various types, to camera platforms, ... to pilots and local-fixers to drivers, ... the list goes on and on ... ... Yup, a whole TEAM ... ~w00d...
I am sure they can buff that out, but for the title? Nat Geo, high dollar equipment like that? Traveling to foreign countries, etc? If you are at that level and don't have simple GPS telemetry down to your GCS your not a professional, your an idiot.
Hats off to the Guy!! They either deleted the original video of the crash and re-staged it, or the Guy is Bullet Proof !!! Even if you over look the price of damage, just recovering the bone pile, would put a strain on anyone's mentality. Don't think I would have been that cool and collected - Larry
The point I was making above is that Nat Geo has a "Drone" program and hires people to fly. That multi would have belonged to the network and it's cost is just a speck of dust to them. http://www.suasnews.com/2012/06/16551/national-geographic-looking-for-drone-q/
Your point is well taken. I have risked life and limb, up a few trees, and waded through mud and swamps, to recover several I didn’t even want back. The big mystery is why? Maybe I’m just don’t want someone to see how stupid I was, by finding it. Takes a long time to out live your screw-ups - Best-no one knows! Larry
