Need HELP to master the ART of Soldering !?! "No, I'm the BEST I don't need NO stinking help" J/K To come soldering links we're found at DIY Electronics which is more or less a "LINK" site, w/ that said we can expect some broken linkages! Regardless I found it a good resource or would be a great place to start off the beginner and for anyone moving away from their noobish ways in electronics The links on Soldering are obviously more suited to PCB work and he's certainly a musician, nevertheless there's still allot to be gained just for looking for noob and pro alike. As for these links in general they may help or be of use when fixing some of OUR broken electronics. I'm specifically thinking if you have ever literally lost or fried one of those tiny Surface Mount Device's (WiKi on SMD) on any of your Rc Electronics some of those links could be useful This wee bit of information was found -> HERE <- which I thought very informative if NOT interesting ... or if ONLY to pique {LOL} your interest - If soldering for NASA found is what's expected with from the work, although I'm not entirely sure the information is from NASA? I'm only assuming it is because NASA is mentioned and the "wording" in the document for lack of better way to put it is very strange? - Could HELP anyone (visually) troubleshoot some of the problems that can arise when soldering some of our projects - And was the ONLY link I had intended to POST but like always w/ too much time on my hands the post (mysteriously, somehow) just seemed to grow FYI: From teh Dept. of Way Too Much Time on my Hands, enjoy ... I've been soldering since I was 3 months old, but there is some cool information in them there links w00d. Thank You.
Yeah, this is what I also was thinking I also think of myself a pretty good solderer ... LOL, well nothing I've built soldering has blown up in a PUFF of Blue-Smoke ... Allot of the INFO was simply interesting and informative, even useful regardless of what I thought my skill level was!
w00d - It's posts like this that make Southern Oregon RC a great resource of information. We've accumulated a good amount of DIY projects, model builds and solutions to problems and it gets better all the time. Helping people make less blue smoke is always good.
... from where I sit this is what I'm also seeing Meh, even when I'm trying to pass along what I know (LOL or think I know, sometimes even what I don't know) I'm learning something NEW ... Which for me is ALL the reason I need ...
wOOd - I have not had a chance to read your links yet, but I can tell you for sure that there is such a thing as NASA certified soldering. They have their own certification program. I ran into that when I worked at Raytheon MSD (Missile Systems Division). I can also tell you that if you can pass that certification, you definitely know how to solder. ...Tiger
