Admin: If you feel this is better in another location then sure go for it. Let me know what you decide ?? Essentially ALL that's in this kit is a motor, ESC and the mounting hardware so here I put it.

I've seen electric conversions custom DIY for the Baja 5B about a year back but this is the first conversion KIT I've seen offered by a manufacture, Castle Creations ... and apologies if this is old news but it's NEW to this noob. Thinking of doing the conversion to my Baja so your opinions are welcome

    Thanks for Looking

I think the forum you chose is appropriate, no worries.

I have seen that motor and ESC on the Castle Creations website.  It's a monster setup.  I wonder what the shaft diameter is on that motor, it looks like more than 5 mm so I'm curious about pinion gear availability.
The ESC is more like what we're used to in our helicopters with the logging feature and the physical layout and heat sink.  Once I saw a guy use a helicopter ESC in a RC car and I wondered why it was not more common.

Yup I'm also wondering about available pinions, safe to say I don't know ... good question

All I can tell you I know what's good for an helicopter ... couldn't say what ESC is best for four wheels so I'd be guessing. Helicopter ESC's has options and programming more suited to flying them than a cra/truck. Also the way we handle the throttle is very different, with heli's we TRY to maintain a constant Headspeed ... Cars/Trucks are up and down the throttle range so I would imagine they are more demanding of their ESC/BEC

HPI has made their 1/5 scale in every off-road form short course truck, rail, buggy.  What they have not done yet is make their 1/5 scale into a on-road car.

Now a 1/5 scale electric on-road car would be some seriously cool fun.  Not that a 1/5 scale short course truck isn't fun, and also getting interesting with a Castle Creations electric system now available.  Interesting times.

That is beautiful, but it's still gas/nitro and I'm trying to stay all electric.
The photo resembles a F1 car Serpent made but discontinued.  See it here: http://www.serpent.com/product/300000

Once in a while one pops up on eBay.  There is one now for $1300.00.  It is a super fine machine with beautiful engineering.  If they weren't so expensive I would get one even if it was just to have it as a shelf-queen.

Yeah from an engineering point of view she certainly is beautiful ...

... and just cus I know your strictly "electric" it wouldn't be such a long walk from GAS to teh Electric Conversion. We can convert my Baja so why not this one!!!

I also like this one because she looks Formula ONe and I think I would be more into road racing w/ some Corner Drifting added in there just for FUN. This would be the direction I'll be talking my Baja as there's more asphalt around here than OFF road terrain

This is another favorite from my photo collection ...

... Again as w/ the F1 pic this one does not belong to me either (so credit to it's owner) but it's GOT ALL the "BLING"
Although {IMO} I would have done a different colour for the anodizing as purple is not one of my favorite colours

    [glow=blue,2,300]w00d[/glow]

Click the PIC, check out teh BLING --->      [IMG]
