I saw some inexpensive RC Tanks on Hobby King and it made me wonder if any of you had any already, or may have tried or are interested in them.
this may not actually be considered a safe thing for me to posses...does it ,or can it ignite black powder or project munitions of any kind?...and can it be used on...oh, let's say cats?---SORRY (kind of) hahaha
Tanks don't really interest me, but here is a link to a "tank like" robot I built for fun a while back. www.wildrobots.com/video/lynxbot.wmv ...Tiger
That's funny. It looks like a weaponized woodpecker. Do you still have it? I was surprised the deer didn't spook very much the second time.
Yep - I still have it. In fact, I had it at the robot club meeting a couple months ago. It's constructed mostly from parts I make for Parallax and Lynxmotion. One day when I was bored, I decided I needed a "fun project" and that bot is where I ended up. I should do stuff like that more often. ...Tiger
Are those stepper motors on the belt drives? We ordered a couple tanks from Hobby King to try for some indoor war this winter: Leopard 2-A6 InfraRed Battle Tank http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/..._Battle_Tank_1_24th_Scale_USA_Warehouse_.html Tiger I Early Production InfraRed Battle Tank http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/..._Battle_Tank_1_24th_Scale_USA_Warehouse_.html They are coming from overseas so I guess we won't get them for a few weeks. I'm hoping they will be fun.
No - Those are DC Gearmotors. A stepper would be a really bad choice for something like that. ...Tiger
I am going to the swap meet in Roseburg on the 12th but am planning to try to get back in town in time for the RogueBots meeting. If it's not too much trouble maybe you could bring your robot so I could check it out.
I'd be happy to bring it. The trick will be remembering for a week! If somehow I don't manage to remember, you can kick me in the head and I'll bring it to Redwood the next morning. ...Tiger
