Man I need to hit up anderson butte again. You looked like you were close to a long hill climb from a road at the bottom that climbs the meadows to a road at the top of the hill. I remember it well because I got to the top, turned around and headed back down to hit it again, it was that good.

Are you running a suzuki 250? I love my crf250x, I even rode today for a bit up Galls Creek.

Sounds good Pile. I have the feeling the snow will come soon though and those high trails will be done till spring. =\

Are you running a gopro? I have an HD I haven't used in a long time. I will have to break it out next ride and so some footage of my favorite spots.

Bret, I rode up there in snow up to the axles last year= not good-leg cramps for 2 days ;D...If you're riding Galls Creek, you , you're probably up for what ever ;D. I did that w/ The MRA treasurer, a few years ago-(rode up it, when the creek was running)-not sure I could do that now ;).I need to mellow out a bit = have a daughter in college

I went down that creek trail with my gf this fall. It was a bit much for her. We have been hitting the ridgeline trail that starts up the first yellow gate rd and ends up in the middle of the clear cut at the top of galls creek. Its a great section of single track, but gets a lot harder with moisture.

Is that the top of the hill, that the fire fighters rolled the side by side off of? If so, I think I was up there 2 years ago.Do you know "Every day Ray" or Joe Stagg?

Not the same ridge. The ridge I am riding is between Gall's creek and foots creek. The firefighters on the side by side were on "big grassy" and the trail that crosses the top of that hill is known as "deer trail" it is one of my favs. Big Grassy isn't far away though.

And for the record, i rode that trail just after it happened. They had no business taking a side by side up that hill, it was a death wish from the beginning. They went up a stupidly steep meadow that is appox 1,000ft tall. They must have got to the top of the main hill climb (where they could have safely turned around and headed down) but instead they went to the right and up to the highest part of the hill where the meadow hits trees and there is no turn around. The only trail across is a single track sketchy dirt bike trail "deer trail". It is very steep and is covered with grass, and large rocks. They had no chance of turning that thing around there.

There was a lot of speculation that they were drunk when this happened. After seeing where they went, they had to be drunk. The thought of driving an RZR to where they did sent chills down my spine. I saw the marks from it as well. The first two marks were 10 ft apart, the next was another 50ft, the next 100ft. We are talking about the steepest section of the biggest open hill on that part of the woods.  We should hit the trails some time and I will point it out.

Joe Stagg sounds really familiar,. but I think its because of Stagg Plumbing. I am a plumber also but have never worked for him. I used to ride those trails with an electrician, my friend Tom Keller and some other older guys. We would do a 40 mile loop of great single track, I wish I could remember the exact trails. Same group i hit Anderson Butte with.

Joe Stagg-Stagg Plumbing (same)-I went to Quarts Creek in Merlin last Saturday, and plan on going to Johns Peak Tuesday after this one.I am doing my forks tomorrow-(lighter springs & more oil.) or I would be riding ...come to think of it the new springs are from a stock CRFx 250 (if the length is ok)-both are Showa 47mm's.

That first trail looked great. I have never rode quarts creek before. I gotto get heathers 125 fixed before we can go again. She threw a chain 10 minutes into the last ride. New sprockets and chain on the way.

I am headed to the dunes this weekend though. Time to break out and extra wheel for the sand.
