    Hey Guys,

With the rumors and attempts being made at a track in Grants Pass for racing off road, I feel like we need a thread for the awesome class of 2wd buggy! I'm going to create a wiki of sorts, so people can come to this for information as I try to get this class moving in Grants Pass/Southern Oregon. I personally have an old beat to crap RB5, so i'll start there.

    Cars:

Kyosho's car is popular in Northern Oregon (PRCR, Daves Place) as Team Kyoshos team manager lives in Portland and works at PRCR. The car is good, and often a top contender with Tebo, Pillars, Dunlap and Dibrino (to name a few) taking wins all over the country with the car.

Losi Stormed back into the chase with the 22 this year, winning Reedy race with Dustin Evans run at the Reedy Off Road Race. A unique design, and hugely popular car this year, Losi hit a home run.

I'll be adding some more information, and more cars and pictures when I can. I just want to scope the interest in this class locally (One of the biggest classes in the world)

i guess i'm kinda tardy to the 2wd buggy party.  gonna run a b4 this year wherever i can.  I know a few others have picked up losi 22's.  I think there are enough serious buggy racers to make a pretty competitive electric race.

I have to agree, and my opinion would also be a 22.  I have even pondered getting one myself since last time I raced 2wd was 93-94 i think?  I used to race a JRX-T and then when the hot-hot RC10T2 came out we all dropped our jaws lol.

I'd do it if I was rich enough. I just blew a bunch of cash on a 22T (sorry, I'm a stadium truck guy deep down) but if somebody handed me a fistful of dollars I'd pick up a 22 buggy and join the party. I'll give it a season, see how it pans out and then decide. I honestly think a 4WD buggy class would be more fun, though. But that's just me.

That would be myself to since all I used to race as you could tell back in the day was 2wd stadium truck.  I would love to see a class for those rigs.

Huh ........ did someone say stadium trucks? I would love to dust off the old stadiums and do some organized racing again. Both nitro and electric. I'm a weirdo but would enjoy a nostalgia class of sorts with a time limit like nothing made after 95 ;D

yeah nostalgia class could always be fun.  However, there is nothing vintage about NEXUS' new losi 22t.  = pure badassness

The more stadium trucks the better! K-Falls comes up with a pretty good stadium turnout. I'd love to get more guys out there with gas stadium though.

But back on course, this is a buggy thread! More buggy talk!  :)

Definitely feeling the 2wd buggy class.  I have a RC10B4.1 that is itching to see the track.  I think a nostalgia class would be cool too, too bad I got rid of my YZ10.

you all have better rigs than mine. i run a cheap ass drutraxx evader ext2. i have put alot of money in to this dam thing to try and make it what i want. but i do not think it will ever be what i really want. but that cheap ass truck is pretty dam fast. i think it would run better if i could afford to get lipo bats and charger. Or shit just sell it and get a nitro truck but i do not have good luck with them running good for me.

That evader used to be a class winning rig!  What you have there is a rebadged associated T3 which was and to some point still is one heck of a rig.  Do some reseach and you will see it can be made competitive for not a ton of money.

Well you sound like your just starting out so my suggestion  would be either a Velineon brushless system or a 60 amp brushless system from hobbywing.  Both are well priced and will net you better run times and a faster rig.  After that start looking for hop ups for an associated RC10T3  Most if not all will fit and work on your truck.

My advise for a beginner has nothing to do with equipment and everything to do with skill. No matter how much money you spend or how many amps your battery can dump you won't be going fast if you're stuck on a pipe. Practice with what you have until you can run a solid five minutes without making mistakes. Then you can think about new motors and batteries. Perhaps not the advice most want to hear but its the only practical advice.

Racing is as much about going fast as it is about being consistent. Both of which are incredibly difficult.

Nexus- you hit the nail on the head.  having the $100 dollar 60c lipos and the 7700kv motor doesnt make you a better driver, For a novice racer, this equals stuck on the pipe, broken parts and eventually discouraged, and will just give up.    Im no expert by no means, but i have told all the newbies that come to race, slow is fast.    And most of them didnt believe it until they saw it in action.    So like nexus says, learn to drive what you have.  Normally at club level racing, is the guy who wrecked the least is the winner

I raced at RC Addiction about a billion years ago and for an entire season one woman consistently kicked most guys square in the butt only because she didn't crash. She went just fast enough to make a fast lap and only crashed when somebody crashed into her. A perfect example of "slow is fast".

Maybe I'll write up a whole beginner-to-racing thread. Would that be helpful?

i understand all that . but my battiers only last about 10or15 mins of run time. and i have been told you get alonger run time out of lipos.

This is true. LiPo batteries can produce more run time, but races only last about 7 minutes at most. Charge up your pack between races and you're good to go.
