{LOL} For those who have need of such things {Please note the HINT of Sarcasm} [shadow=Orange,left]w00d[/shadow] Meh, I JUST like it's NAME QUOTE: The Source - www.RcFlightStore.com ... The Jigs Up - Soldering Jig (Coming soon) $21.95CAD The Jigs Up holds the following connectors: XT60 Deans T connector Traxxas EC-3 EC-5 Deans Micro 2pin, 3pin, & 4pin connectors 2mm, 3.5mm, 4mm, 5mm, 5.5mm, 6mm and 6.5mm bullet connectors Note: The alligator clips are a fairly tight hand-pressed fit into the two holes that are in the back side of the jig (this is pictured above)
I've seen soldering blocks similar to this before and have been tempted to buy one. But what I'd really like to see is a tool that makes inserting the soldered Traxxas connector pins into the housing easier.
I use a hemostat surgical clamp to grip and push them together. Every tool box should have at least one.
You use a hemostat to press the gold plated contacts into the black housing? I usually use a blade screwdriver to press them in, and they have always been pretty tough to push in all the way.
Yup! has worked every time. I grip the soldered connection with the hemostat and push. As long as you keep the solder behind the scribed line on the pin, it will go in all the way. If the solder does go beyond the line, you'll need to file it off.
haha for years I've been looking for that perfect Back Scratcher but they ALL seem to come up short or missing that one vital spot ... Same with these things. Yes there all bright and shiny and seem to have everything covered but in all honesty the simple Soldering Helping Hands has served me WELL for many a year and as never given me a reason to switch ... but this is only my opinion or whats working for smea ... Just that STUPID magnifying Glass HAD to GO I DID add some weight (BIG block of COPPER) to make for a better footing
