Swap Meet: Roseburg

What an amazing day. Many, many fine folks.
It's going to take me a day or two to have it all sink in.
It was like Christmas, so many gifts.
Thanks to everyone who participated.


I carted a wagon load of stuff to the meet and I'll need two wagons to get it all home.
I can't believe that I spent nearly $400.
The upside is, I now have a micro heli to fly this winter, a Losi crawler basket case, a Slash 2WD sand buggy and another Slash 2WD parts donor.


I didn't sell any where near what I had hoped to.
So... watch the for sale thread for some fantastic bargains.

I had a great day in Roseburg and met a bunch of nice people.  Smitty did a terrific job organizing the event and every table was chock full of RC stuff.

It was nice to meet you guys, John, Chris, Brandon and Ken.  Hope to see you all again at Smitty's next event.

We also got to see Smitty's "Over-The-Hill Raceway".  I look forward to racing with you folks next time.

 

IF there is a "next time", we'll make sure to schedule a bash fest along with the swap.
We learned a lot and determined events like this are needed.
Also, I like the suggestion of a live video feed/blog for those who can't be there.

The community bunco group met this afternoon to play.
They really enjoyed the treat!
There are still over a dozen left.
But have no fear, the pool players meet on Monday and they will make good use of them.
There is no such think as a stale donut around here. LOL

 

Well... I've been kicking around the idea of another swap meet here in Roseburg sometime next February. Here are some ideas that may or may not be incorporated in the next event.

• Free track pass for the day - When attendees register at the meet, they will get a pass to use the Over-the-Hill track for the day (depending on the track conditions, maybe too wet). Sorry nitro guys, this is electric only.
• Live web cam - using the +Google hangout, skype or? to broadcast the drawings and the event in general.
• Door Prize Drawings - every attendee who makes a cash purchase will get a ticket for the drawings (drawing every hour). One prize ($? value) to be donated from each seller (cost of table reservation).
• Lunch for the sellers - We'll organize a "dutch treat" subway sandwich run.

Anyone interested in helping with any of these, please let me know.

The 11th looks good for me also and other dates ppossible, as long as I know a week or two in advance.

I have a AXIS 212 PTZ camera that I could bring.  It is a pretty high end camera and the cool thing is that the remote viewers could look around and zoom in with it if we want to let them.  It has a wide view and would be idea for the clubhouse if that's where you would host the event again.

 

I've just submitted a reservation for the clubhouse for the 11th.
So... unless something unforeseen happens, it's on!


It would be great if you (GPS) could take the lead on the web broadcast stuff.
I'll need (find) volunteer(s) to do a registration desk, track marshal and lunch coordinator (read: go for). I can and will handle the hourly raffles.


If the weather and track conditions allow, we'll have some track time too. 

 

I'll bring the camera I mentioned above.

What is the registration desk?

 

I'm thinking the registration desk will serve to collect the seller donations used for the door prize raffles, issue track passes (liability waivers) to attendees who make a cash purchase and to collect some demographics. maybe?!?

 

If you prepare printed sheets maybe my girl could help with that.
