That makes sense don't you think? There are a lot of low flying full scale airplanes in the air over forest fires here in Oregon dropping water and providing reconnaissance and support to the ground crews. Why would a hobbyist want to risk flying over or around a forest fire with all that going on? Most of that info is standard boilerplate stuff about the FAA. But the real reason for the message is because there is an increasing number of incidents. The sand creek fire had a total shut down of air ops last month because of a quadcopter doing fpv over an active fire. Cost of aircraft down time was certainly near $100k or better and ground resources at an increased risk. Worst of all peoples first reaction a lot of the time is a question whether or not a tiny rc aircraft would hurt these real aircraft. Full size aircraft are the most delicate things made. A friend of mine who pilots helicopters said the closest he has ever come to death was when a zip lock sandwhich bag hit his main rotor. It put the blade tracking so far out that it almost shook the helicopter apart while in flight.
